Telescopic comet Honda-Mrkos-Pajdusakova

31.3.2017 at 21.34 - 21.53 - Orimattila, Artjärvi, Tähtikallio (III)
Kari Laihia, Christos Oscar Kambiselis, Ville Puoskari, Janne Voutilainen, Veikko Mäkelä, Porin Karhunvartijat

45P was also a target at the Equipment Days. Ville assembled the comet stack and Kari according to the stars. Even a small counter-tail is noticeable. #pyrstö: 14 'PA 290 ° #pyrstö: 2.5 'PA 115 °

I photographed a dimmable 45P / Honda-Mrkos-Pajdusakova again. The brightness of the core is probably less than 18 mag As I twisted the images, I noticed one "star" was slightly skewed compared to the other stars. This is probably some 18.5mag asteroid that at least I couldn't find with Cartes Mystery asteroid location March 29, 2017 At 20:00 UT was Kuta like Mean J2000 RA: 10h30m58.06s DE: + 19 ° 48'52.38 " First picture stacked according to the stars. The second image is the same as the first one, added with info, The third is negative, stacked according to the comet. The fourth is s...

As I practiced galaxy photography, I realized that the 45P comet is right next door, and even though I had read about its dimming, I decided to try it with a few short exposures. And it even appeared with a delicate tail ball. I marked a few galaxies with their brightness. The latest findings are something of a mag 12 class but I would bet it would be dimmer as well. The satellite that flashed at the comet could not be identified. #pyrstö: 12+ 'PA 285 ° #pyrstö: 1.5 'PA 105 °

I photographed another 45P / Honda-Mrkos-Pajdusakova. It's dim. I measured the core brightness with FotoDiff to be about 18.2 mag. The tail, with the opposite tail in the visible 18 ', could be seen a little longer, but some remain outside the picture. First image 2x600 sec exposure combined, one of the images has been followed by a comet and the other the stars - not perhaps the best combination, but the clouds and the wake-up call the next morning messed up a great plan. Another image of one 600sec exposure following a comet. In the third added a bit of information. #pyrstö: 15+ '...

Jorma Ryske, Etelä-Suomen kosmol. seura

Comet 45P / Honda-Mrkos-Pajdusakova is moving slowly on the back of the Lion, being 80 million kilometers from Earth. A weak 8 'tail is distinguished to the upper right oblique and a counter-tail fan to the left lower oblique 2.5'. The spiral galaxy on the right side of the image is NGC 3287 mag 12.30. The image is stacked according to the comet and the comet has not moved much during the half hour exposure. In the animation, the comet stays almost in place and at the end is visible when the clouds came on. Edit, added as the 1st image an image stacked according to the right core of th...

In the dim moments of the night, a 300sec exposure was quickly captured. The comet poses with the 12.2mag galaxy NGC 3287. At the bottom of the image shines a 7.8 mag star HD91656 EDIT: I added a picture where two galaxies are marked A and B, the picture is related to the weaving of Jorma Ryske's observation: http://www.taivaanvahti.fi/observations/show/62054 #pyrstö: 18+ 'PA 280 ° #pyrstö: 2 'PA 110 °

Yes, the third comet of the evening had dimmed. That is exactly what was recognized in the pictures. #pyrstö: 10 'PA 285 °

There was a gap between the clouds for a moment. Just when I got the filming going, I was hit by technical problems, and I lost contact with the observatory (30m away). The comet was comfortably in the same field of view as the galaxy NGC 3301. I got a 5 x 1min stack of pictures, a couple of different stretches and a faulty negative, #pyrstö: 12+ 'PA 285 ° #pyrstö: 3 'PA 105 °

Comet 45P / Honda-Mrkos-Pajdusakova has dimmed rapidly, now moving above the Lion. In addition to the weak right-up tail, the counter-tail is also weakly distinguished. The galaxy just to the right of the image is PGC 33041 mag15.20. The first image is stacked according to the comet, the second according to the stars, and the third is an animation of the comet’s motion over 45 minutes. #pyrstö: 19+ 'PA 285 ° #pyrstö: 2 'PA 110 °

As another object, we described the comet 45P / HMP. We tried both one- and two-minute exposures. Here are the stacks of the former. The comet with a big tube is still quite spectacular. A throttle tail and a small counter-tail are visible. The dust tail is possibly diffuse next to the gas tail. The tail extends slightly beyond the field of view. Several galaxies can be seen near the comet. Above the comet is a 13.3 magnitude NGC 3713. PGC 93629 (17.3 mag) above the tail, PGC 35588 (15.2 mag), PGC 1828205 (18.1 mag) in the tail direction. From the comma at the top right next to the star PGC 35...

Jari Saukkonen, Kirkkonummen komeetta

After Orion sank behind the horizon, I turned the telescope towards the rising Lion, where Comet 45P was staying. I managed to capture an eight-minute frame with each LRGB filter until a cloud ferry approaching from the west ended the evening. I stacked the images quite nimbly according to the moving comet, and connected it to the starry sky from the same images. In the second image, a short animation of the luminance squares, the interval between the squares is just over five minutes. #pyrstö: 19+ 'PA 290 ° #pyrstö: 9 'PA 90 °

I still had to try to describe this comet when, surprisingly, there was a clear sky. Time was easy to find, fading all the time, but something was still visible in the camera optics images stacked for half an hour. NGC3629 may also appear near the core. #pyrstö: 55 'PA 280 °

I can see mine after a short night’s sleep but just as if a double tail were pointing to the right. The background was ugly when the three could no longer take flattened pictures. #pyrstö: 30 'PA 285 ° #pyrstö: 3 'PA 100 °

It was difficult for a comet to emerge, but a fire came from a quick stack of images taken without follow-up.

The crash of the remote imaging equipment brought a little challenge to yesterday’s session, but thanks again to Arto, it was finally done. The glow of the tail might seem to be enough until outside the field of view (25 '). Next time you need to take longer exposures. #pyrstö: 12+ 'PA 290 °

Comet 45P / Honda-Mrkos-Pajdusakova is still moving at a brisk pace by a quarter of a moon's diameter per hour as it moves away from Earth, being 24 million kilometers away. The comma appears in the light-polluted image about 15 'and the tail 25'. The comet was also monitored with PHD monitoring program parameters during individual 90s exposures. #pyrstö: 25 'PA 285 °

Until the morning, I tried to see how well the tripod can follow the comet with longer exposures, even though the comet is moving at a rather nimble pace. Well, this tuning worked pretty well when even some tails were visible. First image 10 x 5 min following the comet, another image stacked 9 x 1 min according to the comet, third image 9 x 1 min stacked according to the stars Edit: fourth image with different debayer setting. #pyrstö: 17 'PA 300 °
