Pearl clouds

13.2.2017 at 17.20 - Tampere (IV)
Kristian Rastas, Tampereen Ursa

Strange wavy clouds in the western sky at 17:17, a bit like a pearl among them, perhaps, but at about 17:40 the color of the sky changed dramatically to a real light show with different colors as the sun went down. This is not often seen here. Photographed in the center of Tampere on the shores of Lake Pyhäjärvi.

The boy noticed strange clouds from the window at sunset. I didn’t listen at first, but when I finally looked out I had to take a picture of them. I put the pictures on Facebook and my uncle called after I put it on Ursa. That's them.

When I got to work in the morning, I immediately got to watch the pearl clouds appear in the eastern sky. Initially a pink cloud area that gradually turned white. As the sun rose, the sky gradually receded into a cloud and then the show ended quite short.

In a way, a continuation of the observation made during the day. After all, this evening brown chef had to check it out, the wish came true, that is, pearly brown in the final games! The lower clouds did skip the best pearls, but the spectacular was the sunset nonetheless. For the first time in my life, I really witnessed these phenomena, so it was quite ... solemn? At least the smile was in my ears, reportedly ... This can perhaps be called a birthday present ..?

Two words: absolutely_believable! I peeked out of the kitchen window during the day into the yard — jestas what color clouds were the first thought and chin fell to my knees. Isn't that what it is? Yes, there are no clouds of color ... I threw a 400mm obiska into the yard still on the front of the camera — I had to wait for the second moon shot. There was something completely different! Spinning out of my legs felt weird — heck, once again, crocks in the wrong legs! Swing exchange — now it feels better. I started wondering if these are even clouds of color..my pearls..my ..? During the fir...

Mikko Peussa, Ursa (Länsi-Suomi)

Is it possible that the pearls would still have been visible at night in the moonlight and, above all, in the eastern sky? Such a feeling came as I watched the Moon that on the left side there seemed to be pastel shades that didn’t really seem like clouds of color or even the perimeter. After all, there seemed to be both types behind the norm clouds? However, I will now leave the pictures in the amendment for the sake of certainty, because I noticed that Mr Markikonen mentioned one such possibility in one observation. Otherwise I would have already deleted these pictures as perceptually poor a...

I processed pearl photos for dinner and watched as the moon rose from behind the forest. A vague cloud of color appeared around it. Share it, but if once a few hours ago pearl clouds appeared, what would prevent them from being ones too? Let's be clear. I grabbed the camera and tripod on my shoulder and headed for the edge of the field. Hardly based on the pictures look like pearls. The sky was covered with light clouds almost throughout its area, but when I took the picture in the direction of Turku, it was not colored orange, but was quite colorless in that direction as well. Only around...

After leaving the library, one had to look into the sky. There was a pretty cloud in the sky that first seemed like a cloud of color. However, the location was quite high and far from the sun, so for pearl I concluded it. The patches on the eyes have become shaved and the best stage has apparently gone past the shelves between the shelves, but good anyway. I even headed to the local marina for a wider view. In my opinion, the pearl cloud mass was very well from west to north, at least on the basis of the three-image panorama (the jury is allowed to interpret). The first and second pearl cloud ...

After a day of work, I rode a bike on the ice of the Kemijoki River and from there I got to see a pearl cloud above the sun in a narrow strip. The sky in the direction of the sun was in a light cloud and somehow that cloud seemed like pearls. Marko Riikonen observes the same view and that pale cloud was the pearl. http://www.taivaanvahti.fi/observations/show/61147

Pearl clouds

13.2.2017 at 17.22 - Ikaalinen, Luhalahti (V)
Heidi Rikala, Ursa (Helsinki)

I was thinking of going for a run .. I looked up at the sky when there were strange looking clouds. I then drew attention to a very bright colored cloud resembling a side sun. I wondered how it is possible to have a side sun when the sun is no longer visible? At the same time, I sighed that it was a pearl cloud. Then I went for a jog - by car. I drove to Luhalahti and there was the most beautiful sky I had ever seen. Pearl clouds. I photographed what I was getting up to, and bracketed the exposure ... this was what it became.

I was coming home with a child when I noticed colored clouds in the direction of the sunset. I wasn’t able to focus on shooting very much at the time, but I managed to grab one quite demonstrable one. The play was probably wider, but the houses on the street covered a large part of the sky at that height.

During the breaks of the working day, I came to the sky several times but when I drove home I had to jump from the car to shoot. The handsome pearls shone bright in the direction of the sun. Of course I had forgotten to clean the cell and a couple of rubbish was forced to magic out of the pictures. (EDit): added image

On Facebook, Matti Helin reports in the Natural Phenomena group that epic color clouds in southwestern Finland. From the bus window I saw that they are forming here in Poriinki. I sat like hot coals when the bus crawled to Mäntyluoto, from there running home, camera in hand, rack, seat and to the beach. The sea breeze blew the rack and I was afraid there would be anything from any of the pictures. I tightened the legs of the stand and the fur hat on my head. Initially, the pale and pale colorful pearl clouds eventually deepened into different shades of red. Eventually a fiery glow remained on ...

Here are the rest of the pictures of pearls. Indeed, that browning, somewhat normal cloud-like pearl was a new experience. The last picture was taken exactly one and a half hours after sunset. Previous pictures .

I left work. The wind had turned northeast, so there was a small pearl cloud wish. I sent a message to Pirjo Koski that it is worth being vigilant. He received an almost immediate response that handsome clouds of color are currently visible. I looked out the window in the direction of the sun and true indeed, they were great. I picked up a child from school and took a few pictures. Really handsome .. Clouds of color .. Hmm. Pearl clouds had been seen along Finland. So then they weren't a basic cloud of color! I was still checking the temperature soundings in Sundsvall and there at an altit...

As he described the pearl clouds, he noticed that a little up to the left of the already set Sun had erupted, just like half the sun. Through the 300-millimeter when you looked, that too turned out to be a pearl cloud. Like an artistic feather, it swam in the orange sky, accompanied by flocks of birds into the headwind, high above the lower clouds. It was pretty! The beauty of that in a few minutes was lost :(

During the day, the sky was filled with a brightly shimmering white cloud that rippled in marvelous waveforms and showing colored cloud colors in the direction of the sun. The interpretation was clear again: pearly. Once again in the middle of the day like a magical top cloud. As the sun set lower — still on the horizon, however — this “sky” covering the entire sky (or half-sky when I can’t see any more from the window) began to evaporate from top to bottom and also thin out. What remained were, as it were, denser lumps. This development is shown in the figures below (first six, all in chronol...

Once again filming the sunset at Rapatunturi. The time for windy heat porridge decreased. No great pictures. I was already leaving when something more special flashed in the corner of my eye. Filter out of the tube and attack the clouds. Now I have seen decent color clouds myself! After all, nothing about what taxes were on offer on New Year’s Eve. I first described these beauties and then focused on one detail, which I will report separately.

Clouds appeared in the western sky on the evening of February 13, 2017, which made me think about the possibility of pearl clouds. The appearance of the clouds and the prevailing weather type (western Föhn wind) favored the pearl clouds. The skeptical mind, however, was already leaning in the direction of ordinary altocumulus and color clouds, but luckily I still took pictures as documentaries. The clouds were mostly white, but here and there there were noticeable colors as usual in the color clouds. There were spectacular ripples in the clouds in places. When I looked at the latest sightings ...

When I went on a business trip, I paid attention to the bright clouds on the horizon. I recognized them as pearls and nothing more than a car on the roadside and a picture to take on the phone. It is said that the best camera is the one that is included, but yes this time it has to be said that the camera at home would have been better. There is not enough dynamics in Lumia.

Small pearl clouds sailed in the direction of the sunset. I tried HDR images from three image exposures. The contrast improved slightly and the moderate wind did not cause ghosts on the tops of the trees.

As I photographed the sun, I noticed colorful clouds in the sky, which I first thought were colored clouds, but on closer examination I still ended up with pearls, as the colors were intense and quite variegated. The clouds also seemed clearly behind the clouds and the colors shone long after sunset.
