The moon was hiding in the sky surrounded by clouds. The air was surprisingly clear and good for observation. It had to be utilized_fast. (here in the near future has learned not to wait all night ..) The moon lamented later and there was clearly something fuzzy in the air. Luckily, I took these pictures early in the evening. Visibility and refinement was "easy" this time. Second picture quite heavily cropped.

The clouds fluctuated at a fairly fast pace, but I did have time to describe the Moon from one of the cracks that lasted several minutes. The second image was partially exposed to the landscape and background sky, with the Moon being slightly overexposed, so I tried to compensate for it a bit by adjusting the curves.

Jeeeee! Moon! A few more pictures tomorrow. Joy out of a small moment. Great variation in rainfall. EDIT: December 30, 2017, a couple of "fine art" shots. By the way, it took a while before I got the clouds to stay at that point in the picture when I wanted to ...

Quite terribly slippery. I stayed home completely. But the moon definitely had to peek! So I sanded the route during the day (which I had to continue in the evening) to that front yard of the house. I would not have dared to go anywhere else. The first pictures failed, I was on the lawn. Didn't just get accurate pictures. The surface was really soft. The moon was but impressive again. And I finally got the picture I’ve been looking for (No. 3) from a long time ago! Now it was passel weather. Surprisingly well, however, it got accurate, even as the clouds kept ringing more and less.

The forecast looked bright eastern and evening so I had to go see if the moon sickle was visible. After all, it was nicely on display and despite the slight frost (and wind) I periodically dragged the camera to the scene for a picture. Sharpening / processing the image is pretty quick'n 'dirty style. Changed to grayscale from original. Great for Christmas Eve like this weather :)

The crescent moon was nicely visible in the darkening Christmas Eve sky. First a slightly wider view, then with a focal length of 250mm (@ 400mm) and finally more grooved.

No pearl clouds appeared in the sky, but the moon was nice for a long time to roam the telescope in the fully open sky. In particular, I was able to enjoy the Mare Crisium region in a suitable side light. Live on the bottom of it was great e.g. Picard crater. The picture of those craters seemed pretty challenging to get properly. That's how the atmosphere rippled.

After all, there was one night in December when it was clear for a while. I used it to describe an interesting comet. The intention was to guidata according to the comet but failed so I then took unguided shots. It would have been interesting to include a tail. Comet guru Michael Jäger has got a great animation described here. I estimated the comet to be dimmer than others had at this time (less than 12 mag), but maybe there was something fussy in the sky.

I had booked recording time through the SkyGems remote observatory from Nerpio, Spain. But when it seemed that the hatch was not opening there due to the weather (when there was frost?!), I decided to use part of the time to shoot my comet when it had an eruption where the brightness had increased by several magnitudes. For this I decided to use SkyGems Dolomite Observatory. So I got the pictures the next day from the shoot and it clearly shows the same fan formation that others in the world have photographed. I took some measurements and got the following results: Astrometry: RA 02 37 24 DEC ...

The sky cleared in the morning and a surprisingly large number of star flights were visible in the morning. All in all, there were a couple of dozen of them, even more, and sometimes I even captured them in consecutive pictures. From the constellation of Swan to the direction of the Lion, from the horizon to the middle sky. A composite image and giff as well as images of the brightest glimpses.

The trio "encountered" the brightening, almost cloudless morning sky. The equipment was what it was, the stand and the light were exhausted, but something was left. The 70-millimeter crop body didn’t leave much room for composition (virtually none). The moon at the top right, down to the left following Mars and near the crowns of Jupiter. In the wide angle view, the dimest Mars then disappeared into the noise: o) Tomorrow, the moon would have been more comfortable in the middle ground of the planets, but the weather forecasts are in such a category that there seems to be no fear of appearing.

It’s just exciting that at some point in the day / evening the sky looks like nothing at all is coming (i.e. cloudy), but then the clouds give way. So it is today, and the Moon came to be photographed again. It was still so low that there was some degree of vibration in the air.

In 2016, the November super moon was partially covered by a cloud and this was also the case this year (December 3, 2017). Luckily, the next day, the Cloud Cover cracked so much that the Moon, still relatively close to Earth and still shining almost as a full moon, was well visible and I got it photographed. Last year, I published a size comparison of "super moon" and "microchron" but the image was bad for 2016 because the clouds significantly degraded the image quality. Here is the latest comparison, with a slightly better picture. Unfortunately, in the meantime, I haven't been able to de...

The moon was spectacularly sized and colored at low, rising from the horizon. This animation was taken at a later stage. The ‘weakest link’ on the stand caused a small extra jitter to appear in the faster animation. So there was contentment with this slower version.

The main thing is that my friend "got on the carts" for the moonlight. The moon was really gorgeous, clearly visible and yes that brightness was enough. Edit: image order changed, typo corrected.

When I left for work in the morning, I photographed the full moon once again, almost around the clock, from the previous observation (strictly speaking, about 10.5 hours was the interval between observations). On the right edge, the shadows of the lunar surfaces are already beginning to appear. Excellent observation.

During our audience show, another camera knocked out streak images. The clouds came to ruin that job, but as I went through the pictures, a quick flash struck around 18.31. Saved in two 15s boxes. There shouldn’t be Iridium on the move at the time, and it didn’t draw a longer van from the pictures anyway. A very fast but quite bright flash so. The fisheye, of course, compresses the image quite tightly.

When the full moon came, there was an exciting play in Laitila - would I have time to shoot the moon before the fog? How does the cloud ferry move, how fast and where ..? It was unfortunate that the rise of the moon could not be admired, the clouds did not have time to recede fast enough. This moonlight was incredibly bright, even Canon’s own lens wanted to give reflections even though I took the filter off my nose. The moon was very visible. The air was surprisingly clear for a moment. Moving around in your sheath, go skating when the temperature dropped briskly. All the places got an ice cre...

Well now it was great! The moon was quite bright and sharp for a moment. The moment naturally had to be immortalized, a rare set .. The moon got a light circle again later. The momentary appearance of the moon caused an assault on the courtyard side. A couple of days has already burned Sirui's ball head in the camera bag. I was almost startled that what a miracle is visible in that sky .. Behind the insane veil of fog, the moon shone ghostly. Quite insanely beautiful! The clouds turned into clouds of color and the moon got a circle later that evening. Separate havices from them. It’s wonderful to get out for a moment to bark fresh and even see the moon. The triangle picture is a feeling from yesterday :)

Nysa is a large and exceptionally bright main zone asteroid. It was discovered by Hermann Goldschmidt on May 27, 1857. The asteroid type is a rare E, and is possibly the largest known asteroid of that type. It is 65 km in size (+ -12 km). One such Finnish connection in this asteroid is that in 2002 Mikko Kaasalainen and his research group made a model of the asteroid based on 63 light curves. However, the model and interferometer observations have not been able to tell whether the asteroid is conical or a contact steroid. Link to an asteroid model image .
