Marko Myllyniemi, Lakeuden Ursa

Over the course of the day, the cloud cover had thinned enough that the Moon could be seen fairly well in the sky, so I grabbed my Nikon superzoom and went outside to photograph the Moon. However, there was enough cloud cover that even the 22° halo ring was visible, so I had to photograph it as well. The first picture with Nikon and the second with Canon + fisheye lens (cropped) combination.

Hello seen! Last month, there was not a single halo sighting in my statistics, although the Sun wasn't too bright either. The main image is a blurred stack of 30 images at 19:47-19:58, the second is the last image of the stack without processing. And that was it, when the sky became completely cloudy again.

Carpe Diem. Now you have to seize those small moments, when something more than just a gray mass of clouds is available. The copter caught the morning pillar.

Is there a solar pillar in these pictures, it was ten degrees below zero in Kokkola. An ND8 filter has been used in the wider picture where the clouds are formed as if by a bird's wing.

On the singing stage, cannons on and light ice fog. Yes, it was less common, but I interpreted it to mean that you liked that bosta. Unusually windy weather. It would have been a decent ice fog if it was calmer. - - - - - Update: I made a 60 km trip to Tuupovaara and there was noise all the way except for one short section. The ice fog seen on the singing stage was the same and the cannons had no part in it. This interpretation was confirmed when, on the way to Tuupovaara, we encountered real cannon ice fog. First I noticed a typical gray flat mass in front as shown in picture 3. In picture fo...

The surface solar arc surprised by freezing in the shelters of the marina. The angle of the phenomenon is quite narrow, you wouldn't need to be much higher than the sun to reach out to become a Bottlinger. The moon phase is too weak to attempt it at night. I was equipped with my phone, I clicked pictures and quickly stacked 16 of them by hand. The first is the maximum stack, the second is the average stack. Thirdly, a single image which is, as it should be, significantly worse than the visual impression. Keli was perhaps not quite an archetype. In the morning there was a moderate wind acco...

Esa Pekka Isomursu, Ursa (Pohjois-Suomi)

When I peeked out with Iso-Syötte a little after one, I could see a really bright V-shaped halo between the trees and something around it as well. But before I could gather my camera equipment, dress warmly and rush out, the play had already quickly dimmed and "V" was not even visible. I traveled by car and on foot in an area of about 5 kilometers. In different places, the halos were sometimes very bright, but "dim" or not at all. An hour later I ended up in a swamp where the halo was moderately visible. I took a bunch of pictures there, of which I stacked up to 30 pictures. I still handled th...

Sunday 20.11. at around 12:30 a wonderful halo phenomenon, when there were wonderful and bright side suns on both sides of the Sun. The phenomenon was visible for at least an hour before the Sun began to set behind the horizon. Although the picture is great, on both sides the colors of the light spectrum were really bright and excellent. In the picture, which was taken with a mobile phone, only a very small part of the colors can be seen, unlike in nature. I've seen many side suns, but this one was the best of them all. Photo: Jaakko Ylikulju.

Jani Päiväniemi, Ursa (Pohjois-Suomi)

The snowfall started last night and I went for a ride in the Ruka area in case halos were visible. They were seen again. The particularly bright moilasenkaari was nicely displayed and a bunch of others as well. On the opposite side, there was only a small brightening at the anti-sun. I took pictures for stacking, I'll try to get it done sometime.

I was on a photography trip behind Nilsiä Tahkomäki, I was driving a car and I noticed the clouds formed by snow cannons, the sun started peeking through the clouds. A milder halo phenomenon was already formed there, but about 10-15 minutes later, in a slightly different place, the phenomenon intensified and when I changed the place, the phenomenon finally got its full force.

Several bright halo forms

20.11.2022 at 10.05 - 11.10 - Sotkamo Vuokatti (III)
Sanna Kotimäki

It was freezing at night and in the evening you could see nice tall y-shaped artificial light pillars just before it started to snow. I was driving in traffic, there was no chance to take pictures. today we could see floating ice crystals in the air and as the sun rose in the sky, the hugely bright side suns were accompanied by all the colors of the spectrum. I was jogging, only had my cell phone with me, so the red and green tones didn't come into the picture very strongly. Sometimes you could see the entire upper cabinet, sometimes the reflections on the sides were stronger.

Such aurora borealis/artificial light rays were photographed for the first time in Muonio. In the first picture, the light beam phenomenon was directly above Jeriskylä, as if flying in the sky. What is this ????????. The picture pops up from the hood of the car in the shade. Other pictures from Kutuniva, where, where the light poles in the vertical direction

Jani Päiväniemi, Ursa (Pohjois-Suomi)

I was driving a car in traffic and Velipoika was driving behind me. Driving to Ruka from Vuoting, the sky cleared and there was a lot of ice in the air. I noticed the pillars appearing in the car's lights and we stopped the cars. It was like the last time again, with a cell phone as the only means of observation and rarities visible. Maintenance can examine the forms when I don't recognize them all.

My wife and I were filming at Ruka's Juhannuskallio in the morning when we saw some faint halos. For a while, the crystals were marked by the brightness of the arc below. It looked like there were either 22' tire parts below the side sun section or the lower side suns. Another picture with a wider view.

A flimsy piece of pillar stood out as the sun went down, and it stood out even better half an hour later (pictures 1. and 2.). When I was photographing the direction of the setting sun there, I captured the shadows and strips of light created on the calmer surface (pictures 3-6), which strongly reminded me of the recent conversation in connection with the reflection observation of Martikainen . So, at least in this case, the canopies of the beach trees with their gaps created a pattern very similar to the reflections seen in the clouds in Martikainen.

A bit like yesterday's version, a halo separated from a gap in the clouds for a moment. First, an uncertain side sun from the right behind the low clouds, and after a while it was quite clear from the left, although when I got the handset in my hand, the low clouds were already blocking the view. The middle of November is approaching, the violets are blooming and the ladybug was still on the move.

A rather impressive 22° ring in the moonlight, and sometimes a dim 9° ring also stood out. It would have been nice to follow this even longer, but the sleep debt started to weigh on me. When I got home, it seemed that the 22° overhead arc was also included.

Jani Päiväniemi, Ursa (Pohjois-Suomi)

An absolutely incredible set! My wife and I were coming from Kuusamo from a shopping trip when our attention was drawn to a bright halo opposite the sun, so I stopped the car and had the sense to leave. Just before the stop, the boy sent a message that some bright halos can be seen. Maintenance can check and mark the forms. I'm still on the road. Edit, I added 2 processed images, the second a panoramic image.

While I was at work, the ice fog caused by the snowfall made a great halo display throughout the evening. The arc under the moon was quite bright. When looking at the pillars in the early evening, the upper side suns were clearly visible. Looks great, yes. The northern lights also appeared on top of that.
