A fireball at night, as bright as a crescent moon

1.12.2021 at 17.07 - Hankasalmi, Murtoinen (III)
Arto Oksanen, Jyväskylän Sirius

An obvious fireball photographed in the eastern sky through the clouds. There are several other observations about this, so I checked the pictures even though the weather was bad. Appears in the minute exposure, which starts on 17.07.44 Finnish time.

A fireball at night, brigter than the venus

28.11.2021 at 19.53 - Jyväskylä (III)
Harri Kiiskinen, Jyväskylän Sirius

This has presumably been quite bright as it is well visible through the clouds.

A fireball at night, brigter than the venus

26.11.2021 at 17.30 - Jyväskylä (III)
Harri Kiiskinen, Jyväskylän Sirius

There were already several observations of this. The image of the Nyrölä Observatory meteor camera had also hit.

Telescopic comet Leonard

24.10.2021 at 01.45 - Jyväskylä (II)
Petri Tikkanen, Jyväskylän Sirius

Seti requested observations from comet C / 2021 A1. At the time of shooting, eVscope wasn't very strange.

Telescopic comet Leonard

22.11.2021 at 05.20 - 06.09 - Jyväskylä (III)
Harri Kiiskinen, Jyväskylän Sirius

I also photographed this in a timed morning, as the comet C / 2021 A1 (Leonard) is quite low in the early evening. Hopefully the weather will allow this observation in the coming weeks, as the forecasts promise a comet of about 4 mag brightness, the most optimistic even 1 mag.

Telescopic comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko

22.11.2021 at 03.39 - 03.48 - Jyväskylä (III)
Harri Kiiskinen, Jyväskylän Sirius

The telescope photographed two brightest morning comets from the backyard in a timed way while Vetel himself was struck.

A fireball at night, brigter than the venus

21.11.2021 at 22.15 - Jyväskylä (III)
Sampsa Lahtinen, Jyväskylän Sirius

Dropped deep red glowing halfway from the sky to the forest border. No tail. The pace is quite.

Several halo forms

20.11.2021 at 22.00 - 23.15 - Hankasalmi, Murtoinen (II)
Harri Kiiskinen, Jyväskylän Sirius

A short-lived halo around the moon from 22:00 to 22:30 and from 23:00 to 23:16. A weak 22-degree ring can also be seen in the pictures taken at 00:28, 04:52 and 04:59. Radio telescope tracking was adjusted from time to time, so the cover is not in front of the Moon in all images.

Nova M31N 2008-12a

14.11.2021 at 20.30 - Hankasalmi, Murtoinen (I)
Arto Oksanen, Jyväskylän Sirius

The recurring nova of the Andromeda Galaxy, M31N 2008-12a, has erupted again. This time the eruption was discovered by Japanese Itagaki this morning. The weather forecast looked inconsolable here in Finland, but the sky opened after 8pm and I got a picture of Nova. https://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=15034

Variable star V808 Aurigae

11.11.2021 at 00.46 - 05.16 - Hankasalmi, Murtoinen (I)
Arto Oksanen, Jyväskylän Sirius

Located in the driver's constellation, the polar variable V808 Aur is bright (high state). The star is a compact binary star in which a highly magnetic white dwarf star orbits an ordinary star from which matter flows into the white dwarf. The light curve shows deep eclipses every two hours as the white dwarf covers behind the companion star. Before dark, there are (sometimes, not always) dims in the light curve that result from the flow of matter in front of the white dwarf. Astrophysically very interesting object. http://simbad.u-strasbg.fr/simbad/sim-ref?bibcode=2009CBET.1652....1T https...

Arto Oksanen, Jyväskylän Sirius

In the north, an arc of northern lights, in the southern sky two green spots and a small red area next to another spot. A snippet of SAR? All night timelapse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8TARqeReWk #sarg

One halo form

9.11.2021 at 10.35 - 11.40 - Hankasalmi, Murtoinen (III)
Harri Kiiskinen, Jyväskylän Sirius

The 22-degree ring shone in the sky for just over an hour. No other halo shapes were found in the image stacks.

Telescopic comet PANSTARRS

8.11.2021 at 19.01 - 19.16 - Hankasalmi, Murtoinen (III)
Harri Kiiskinen, Jyväskylän Sirius

Comet C / 2027 K2 brightens very slowly, and in about a year's time it is forecast that the level will reach 5-7 mag, depending on the forecast.

Telescopic comet Helin-Roman-Alu

8.11.2021 at 22.02 - 22.10 - Hankasalmi, Murtoinen (II)
Harri Kiiskinen, Jyväskylän Sirius

Comet 132P is currently cooling behind the orbit of Mars and is a rather modest target. The periheli of this is also a point (13.11.2021), so this does not become more strange. Light curve: COBS. SI

Telescopic comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko

8.11.2021 at 22.14 - 22.51 - Hankasalmi, Murtoinen (III)
Harri Kiiskinen, Jyväskylän Sirius

The brightest comet at the moment and even a fine tail seems to be. The comet is probably at its brightest right now, as the periheli was 2.11 a week ago. and the closest comet to the country is 12/11/2021 Light curve: COBS. SI

Telescopic comet Schwassmann-Wachmann

8.11.2021 at 21.51 - 21.59 - Hankasalmi, Murtoinen (III)
Harri Kiiskinen, Jyväskylän Sirius

Comet 29P has had several outbursts in recent weeks, but no observations have been made of Finland. Finally a bright evening came and I was able to spot the comet. Compared to my previous observation on October 3, 2021, the comet has brightened slightly and the coma has clearly expanded. We hope that there will continue to be plenty of observation.

Auroras seen through breaks in the clouds

31.10.2021 at 01.37 - 01.45 - Korsnäs (II)
Juha Kinnunen, Jyväskylän Sirius

When the value of the Kp index was predicted to be as high as seven - that is, the best for several years - and only partly cloudy clouds and even a clear sky in the morning were forced around Vaasa, we had to try our luck. Korsnäsin tienoo was finally chosen as the place of observation, where I was on call from nine in the evening to half past four in mild eight-degree weather. As for the repos, however, things didn’t go as I had hoped. Only very rarely did the small-scale thinnings lasting up to a couple of minutes enter the cloud cover, and a large storm of repos, considered almost certain,...
