Kari Laihia, Eero Koivula, Olli-Pekka Joronen, Christos Oscar Kambiselis, Toni Veikkolainen, Veikko Mäkelä, Porin Karhunvartijat

The asteroid on the outer edge of the main zone of 7354 Ishiguro (1995 BR1,1976 UE11,1982 VV4,1982 XN4) was photographed on the second night of the November 2021 work. When we photographed the fish spiral galaxy NGC 488, this came into the picture like several other asteroids. The asteroid was discovered by the Japanese amateur astronomer Takao Kobayashi at the Oizumi Observatory on January 27, 1995. The asteroid is named after Masato Ishiguro (b. 1945) of the Japanese ALMA project manager (Atacama Large Millimeter / submillimeter Array). NGC869 & NGC884 / Caldwell 14

21.11.2021 at 20.00 - 21.00 - Rauma (III)
Jarkko Laukkanen, Porin Karhunvartijat

The Perseus binary star NGC869 & NGC884 / Caldwell 14 is always a nice destination to return to. Even asterisks are enough for the entire field of view so that you can evaluate the tube settings. So again this time, and there's still plenty to adjust.

NGC188

21.11.2021 at 21.00 - 22.30 - Rauma (II)
Jarkko Laukkanen, Porin Karhunvartijat

The first longer observation and imaging session with a new telescope. From the edges of the original image, it can be seen that the alignments of the new pipe still have to be adjusted, so I cropped the image by about 50%. But to the destination: During the week, I got the chance to explore the ancient open constellation NGC188 through an article on Sky & Telescope. It is located near the celestial pole, about 4 degrees from Polaris (on the side of Cepheus). It is estimated to be 6.8 billion years old, so it is clearly older than the Solar System. However, it has remained piled up and avoided...

Telescopic comet Helin-Roman-Alu 2

Vesa Puistovaara, Porin Karhunvartijat

The great quartet of the moon, the "Daltons," photographed during a rather restless seeing. There was little opportunity to immortalize the details with the help of 2x barlow, but a brief acquaintance with the origin of the names of the craters and the scientists of their time was an even more detailed and rewarding experience! The name for this moment in the picture came to my mind, but hardly any of these guys were worse than myself ...

Cleomedes

21.11.2021 at 22.30 - 23.30 - Harjavalta (IV)
Jari Kuula, Porin Karhunvartijat

The company draws Cleomedes in the evening light. The observation weather was really good by November! The bottom of the C is clearly convex, and the Tralles that hit the northwest edge have pushed the masses to the bottom of the big crater. The three-pointed central mountain of C rises to a height of almost a kilometer. Rima Cleomedes did not stand out until it was drawn, instead Rima Burckhardt stood out in the same direction. The latter begins at the southern edge of Geminus. Burckhardt is characterized by its ears, with two older craters centrally below it.

29P / (Schwassmann-Wachmann) The periodic comet of the Jupiter family was filmed on the second night of the November 2021 campaign. Outbreaks sometimes occur in a comet, which is why we have tried to shoot several times. The comet's orbit is outside Jupiter's orbit and will be close to Jupiter 2037 less than 1au away. Discharges may increase the brightness by 1-5 mag. The size of the large comet's core is 60.4km. As of filming, the comet was 5,064 miles away, the closest 4.82au on November 6, 2020. 1Picture The sum of the stack by comet. In the direction of 3 o'clock a separate...

Moon

18.11.2021 at 21.00 - Pori
Vesa Puistovaara, Porin Karhunvartijat

Visual observation & drawing of (almost) a full moon. 'Yard sofa' means a tekele sketched during a short respite. The twigs of the trees are commendably up front, but it doesn’t really hurt the viewing experience. Among all the other hustle and bustle, it was a fun moment to try something new ... so for myself.

Moon

14.11.2021 at 17.15 - 17.45 - Ulvila (IV)
Vesa Puistovaara, Porin Karhunvartijat

A moment at the Ulvila observatory, spending my time in meaningful conditions. The Finnish Meteorological Institute appeared to be 9/8 cloudy at the time of the observation, ie "cloud cover cannot be determined due to dense fog or heavy snowfall, for example". Well, what about being at that altitude and in my mind when shooting the Moon: D Image 2 is mainly a landscape image to verify that weather forecasts also have their sides.

Starry sky image

10.11.2021 at 20.00 - Nakkila (III)
Vesa Puistovaara, Porin Karhunvartijat

Nice observation weather had been promised, and it was also available in the late evening of November 10, 2021. One of the best places near Pori is Lake Leistilänjärvi , where I thought to deviate from the starry sky to admire and marvel at the telescope and camera. The first step from the car to the earth's crust turned out to be a deep puddle of water - however, the socks remained dry :) Pretty soon I noticed that the sky was full of ‘some extra light pollution’. Calling our local active member answered: Ulvila's new S-Market celebrated its opening, and there were floodlights on the ...

NGC 6888

8.11.2021 at 00.00 - Nakkila (IV)
Tomi Kurri, Porin Karhunvartijat

My autumn observation project has been the Sickle Nebula in the constellation Joutsenen. There is a lot of opaque hydrogen mist around the site, which is aided by rapid optics. The total exposure time of the image is almost 10 hours. The camera is a ZWO 183MC Pro color camera.

Telescopic comet

9.11.2021 at 00.00 - 00.10 - Ulvila (I)
Tomi Kurri, Vesa Puistovaara, Porin Karhunvartijat

The last observation of the November frost night was the comet 67 / P Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This comet, which moves through the constellation of Gemini, is the same one that ESA's Rosette probe visited in 2014. We photographed a comet at the Ulvila observatory in Pori. I managed to grab a total of 8min exposure from the comet with LRGB filters before the clouds arrived.

Deslandres

28.10.2021 at 02.55 - 03.45 - Harjavalta (IV)
Jari Kuula, Porin Karhunvartijat

The company draws Delandres and a couple of details from the surrounding area. Lexell was born on the southern edge of D, 64 km in diameter. This lighting is distinguished by a shallow canal starting from the break point (northeast) of the L edge rampart and extending to the bright spot of Cassini. This northwesterly shape is shallow, 10 km wide and 110 km long. The canal in the upland area poses an interesting problem in terms of its mode of origin. SJ O´Meara gave the name Charon´s Canal because D was sometimes called Hell Plain. The central mountain of Regiomontanus was another detail in th...

Atlas

24.10.2021 at 00.35 - 01.22 - Harjavalta (IV)
Jari Kuula, Porin Karhunvartijat

The attempt to draw Atlas and Hercules in the evening light, perhaps too early in the evening, the shadows were short. The weather was good, and the Moon was high, so the rills of Atlas stood out every now and then. The Atlas is an early-crimean crater, with a thick throwing mantle (Glacis) around it, except in the northwest, where Glacis sinks in the direction of Atlas E. Teemu Öhman recalled that TG Elger (1838-1897) launched the word Glacis defining: outer slope of a ring-plain. Hercules is eratosthenes, about 68 km in diameter. In the sonar images, Hercules E stands out as oval because it ...
