Arcus cloud

24.7.2020 at 17.30 - Kesälahti (IV)
Kari Kärkkäinen

On the return journey of the varnish trip, a small hook to the side road and a wooden gutter to look for an opening. It didn't give much spark, and it didn't spit much water.

Arcus cloud

24.7.2020 at 19.30 - 20.00 - Kouvola (IV)
Jari Nenonen

Almost 2 years expected. Either can’t get it or it won’t, but there was always the taste of lemon in my mouth. At noon the day went over fine and I couldn’t do anything, but I decided the emergency didn’t look like this. Persistent to win. The evening came and I waited. Or so, again, nothing. I was already handing over, but I decided to wait for one more. It struck a few flashes in Sipoo and I am in Kouvola. Is there anything that can come, or will it die before it gets there? I came from there. And not just anything came. Now there is a smile :) Same as moving: https://youtu.be/8ObDhhnmqo0

Arcus cloud

21.7.2020 at 22.30 - 23.05 - Inari, Inarijärvi, Iso Jääsaari (IV)
Olli Sälevä

During the evening, one thunderous area went past and over our camp. After that, there was a few hours of calmer weather, until the thunder began to roar again and a nice-looking avalanche cloud began to form in the south-facing sky. There was a bit of rain, rain, wind and rumble, but nothing special to mention though.

Esa Palmi, Ursa (Länsi-Suomi)

It feels like you’re in exactly the right place for a thunderstorm and just turning your way towards chase fields. Then there is the road construction site and a 15-minute wait. After this, after the lead car for 10 minutes and crowned by the hose, the first drive after road work is a maximum of sixty. You can get pictures from the window on your mobile phone, but you could have tried to shoot lightning and the shape of your whale`s mouth better. Still, this summer a few extra flashes and shapes in the clouds bring a lot more joy!

Pekka Hatunen

An avalanche cloud appeared in Lake Oulujärvi when I was waiting for thunderstorms at the Vaala harbor breakwater.9.7 2020. It went over pretty quickly and so I started to harbor hard and went home. A thunderstorm followed, roaring and lightning, but it went unreported.

12.7.2020 at 18.20 - 18.45 - Hämeenlinna (V)
Toni Ranta

In the early evening, after a thunderstorm cell around Akaa Toijala, a long red-echoed queue appeared to grow on the radar, so when you were close, you had to jump in quickly after a day's trips to see what's coming from there. The surprise was great when a avalanche cloud swept across the sky and, at least in my opinion, quite spectacular. The creature gave the observation site heavy rain with perhaps pea-sized granules that rarely fell for a few minutes, but the lightning only started farther away near Hämeenlinna.

Arcus cloud

8.7.2020 at 15.10 - Sipoo, Kaunissaari (IV)
Sari Helppi, Ursa (Helsinki)

It was just getting attached to the boat dock as a thunderstorm approaching from the southwest began to show signs of life. I ran with the camera to the rock from where the lightning cloud sausage was nicely visible. When the cloud was almost there, I decided to leave the place suddenly. The last steps were taken by a terrible collapse. The lightning struck somewhere close, but I was no longer left wondering where.

A small avalanche-type "lump" sailed over my house toward the north. In the aftermath, a slightly stronger wind and a noisy downpour.

3.7.2020 at 22.30 - 01.15 - Ylöjärvi, Kuru (III)
Esa Palmi, Ursa (Länsi-Suomi)

For once, this way. The heat is 10 degrees, just be in the cottage and watch the evening's "surprise sock". It is already dark enough to find that the flashes were visible from afar and especially the flashes were handsome. There was also a constant rumble, so the cloud was close enough. With Dronella, I also tried to shoot a cloud after midnight, which had quite nice shapes. To the extent that the light output of the helicopter is sufficient. At times of low gorge birth, you should always be awake, as these can bring such surprises.

Arcus cloud

1.7.2020 at 18.48 - Siilinjärvi (III)

Fortunately, this undisguised thunder cell front came a little slanted to have time to photograph and watch the avalanche before falling under the rain. When the avalanche came on, at the same time it seemed to disintegrate from its northern end, perhaps this would have been at its most visual a few miles to the southwest.

29.6.2020 at 16.48 - 16.54 - Kirkkonummi (IV)
Katri Kuparinen

The sky began to darken and I looked out the window. It was as if I had seen some elongated shape and went out with the camera. It looked like a avalanche cloud was approaching and I stayed to follow. The water started to seep in and I went under the sail to shoot. A good pace approached, but so the water also started to get harder in the harbor, so I moved under the eaves. I had time to take a picture of the couple before the downpour started. Shortly after I got back inside, the thunder rolled once. Admittedly, it then remained so that neither of its strange thunderstorms came.

A thunder front approached from the sea. The lightning froze on the coast, but the cloud was pretty.

At least 10 lightning strikes seen

25.6.2020 at 17.57 - 18.13 - Kajaani (IV)
Juho Pöllänen

Mörkö passed over Kajaani. Signs of what was to come were visible when I got home from work. Black clouds were visible behind Lake Oulujärvi and a glance at Lightning Maps ensured that the Puokio-Jaalanka area flashed hard. Based on the maps, I thought that the most violent lightning would run from the north of Kajaani towards Sotkamo. Coffee and ice creams were enjoyed on the terrace in the scorching heat. Gradually, individual rumbles began to be heard and soon the rumbles turned into an almost uninterrupted rumble. It still seemed that the violent air was passing north of Kajaani. Lightning...

At least 10 lightning strikes seen

18.6.2020 at 12.45 - 13.00 - Rautjärvi (III)
Kari Kärkkäinen

Work directly against the little delicacies arriving in the Rautjärvi standard area from the direction of Imatra. The radar image showed a well-sparking norm stuff on the bow and a harddel with slightly arcuate features behind it. Eventually, they merged and the banana-like weakened. It must have been a meso.

18.6.2020 at 05.50 - Sysmä (III)
Pia Simonen

After four in the morning, a distant roar began to be heard. Gradually a spectacular cloud began to form behind the lake and it rose to the top of the thunder. Vibrant lightning and heavy rain contained this cloud.
