The fragile opportunities to see and describe the planetary conjuncture already on Christmas Eve had flowed into the melted Keravan River, but on Christmas Day, success finally came. Shortly after four, on my way to the garbage canopy, I realized that a cloud hole was coming. So after the waste disposal, I headed with the camera to a nearby field and patiently waited for the cloud cover tear to finally be in the right place. Jupiter, because of its glory, could not have been immediately noticed with the naked eye, but Saturn was considerably more awkward. However, I also managed to see it when...

Merry Christmas from Naantali! For Christmas Eve, there was a weather disturbance (it became clear for a couple of hours). Jupiter and Saturn were photographed with the best equipment on hand (cell phone). Before I had time to walk back home, the Moon was covered in a cloud curtain.

Just before the Christmas Mugs were warmed up, the southern skyline brightened and the Christmas feast had to wait as long as the encounter between Jupiter and Saturn was recorded. The best moment on Monday passed, but this one still came. Image 1 Unlimited image with a 200mm lens Figure 2. 100% body planets

After the buck had visited, I peeked out the back window. There was one more Christmas present waiting. The sky was almost cloudless. I grabbed a few pictures and continued to open the actual packages. I went out again soon, but the sky was in a cloud. Well, let's be happy about that too. Merry Christmas!

To add to my own observation of the planetary encounter, how high there were still that were visible in Mart above the roofs of the houses.

A small gap in the clouds and there they were — Jupiter and Saturn. Jupiter has already curved past Saturn. The gap in the clouds lasted less than half an hour and then the clouds were already on. Fun Christmas present ..

A couple of days late, but this encounter was nice to see. It still went tight, so much the clouds bothered me.

It must have been just such a day for this clarification of heaven to happen. Well, luckily there was understanding at home and I was able to go outside after the horizon brightened promisingly. At the end of the observation period, a cloud hit the sky again. Already walking to the observation site, Jupiter stood out comfortably above the horizon, elsewhere as a friend of the moon of Mars, also quite spectacular. It was nice to watch the duo move to the lower horizon. Once again, you can cope better with the gray days, when you got to enjoy a dose of "Christmas delicacy" :) Shooting this time ...

Muhos opened his cloud veil in the evening enough to describe the approach of Jupiter and Saturn. However, the recession of the clouds brought with it so much frost that the best shots may not have been taken due to the cold hardening.

Approaching Jupiter and Saturn 17.12. There were good views over the bottoms in the right direction, and the sky was cloudless. Mars was also visible bright further east. I took several pictures of the planets, of which this was the best. Filmed pretty exactly at 4 p.m.

Lets see if it remained the best view of the duo when the weather forecasts looked bad. I was not equipped for the clearing of the sky, fortunately my modern cell phone is capable of miracles in the dark.

It went hard, but the weather became clear just in time for the lunar sickle to appear. A bit of a humble couple staring at Christmas when they were so low. Saturn was barely distinguished by the naked eye when the magnitude was of the order of +1.28. It was 12 degrees below zero, so the fingers and toes were pretty icy in the end. It was still worth leaving. While waiting for the conjunction of Venus and Jupiter on March 1, 2023, perhaps also on April 30, 2022 from the day sky you can try.

Let’s make Havis when the weather keeper opened the cloud curtain even for a moment. Sure, the duo was visible right on the edge of the cloud curtain. I saw Saturn only in the pictures. I thought I had only captured Jupiter. The remote control had disappeared somewhere, but luckily the stabilizer calmed the picture even a little :) They weren't so close to each other yet. The focal length with that tele-extension assembly is probably just over 800 mm.

As the evening dimmed, I photographed Jupiter and Saturn shining beautifully in the sky. This image was also accidentally hit by a satellite or other flying object. Picture taken at 16:39 and shutter speed 1 second. Raw image.

Although the apparent distance between Jupiter and Saturn will still decrease considerably in the coming weeks, there was little to be done to model suitable shooting locations and with the same effort to take a single picture in case the weather trolled for several weeks in a cloudy period. Afterwards we hooked up that the camera could finally be configured out of daylight saving time ...

The encounter between Jupiter and Saturn as closely as it takes place in December is a relatively rare occurrence in the sky. However, the long-standing Cloud Cover gave way on October 8, 2020. Eventually, after dark, I found Jupiter and Saturn was immediately visible on the camera. The ISS traveled some distance above these, but the still dim light caused me not to get a visual observation of it. In the picture, the moons of Jupiter stand out as a beautiful pearl necklace. Saturn's ring does not separate due to overexposure. Its fibers are also difficult to distinguish in the published im...

Tuesday night was better than Monday and the planet duo showed up nicely, Saturnus with the naked eye. I took pictures with a cell phone and a wiser, of which the latter is described below. This could have been the last chance to see the encounter, the later days have been cloudy.

Two giant planets are approaching each other. Now that there would be suitably clear evenings before Christmas, then this would be a great encounter.

Two giant planets, Jupiter and Saturn, approaching each other on the other side of the Solar System. At 4 p.m., Jupiter began to appear as a small dot and half an hour later clearly. In the picture, Jupiter is brighter on the right and Saturn dimmer on the left. The distance to Jupiter is 870 million kilometers and to Saturn 1.6 billion kilometers. Weather clear, a couple of degrees frost and a cold southerly wind directly from the lake.

When it came to a clear evening for a long time, one had to take a peek at what belonged to Jupiter and Saturn. I popped outside first at 4 p.m. At first I didn’t want to find planets, but at first I was looking in the wrong direction. Then found with binoculars easily. Jupiter was visible to the naked eye. I returned less than half an hour later to see if the planets would be better visible. With binoculars both easy, Jupiter also with the naked eye, but Saturn does not. Saturn did not grab the cell phone image either. The distance between the planets was still just over 1.5 °. Attached is a ...
