Quiet aurora arc

27.8.2021 at 00.18 - Oulu (II)
Sari Pietikäinen, Corona Borealis, Rovaniemi

Oops! My northern lights shooting season started stealthily. On Thursday night, I was driving north from Oulu and somewhere Ii had to stop by the road to shoot when something "northern lights suspicious" flashed in the side window. Well. The pictures revealed that there were clouds then, however. But only a few days later, when I got to the bigger screen, I realized that the pictures taken later that evening on the Oulu side show that there is a dim arc visible. Jeij! Then the storm of Friday night blissfully missed it ...

Landscape image of a planet

Sari Pietikäinen, Corona Borealis, Rovaniemi

What kind of lie madness made me leave in the middle of a clear summer night in Rovaniemi to check if something was already visible in the sky? Well, a warm evening, and cloudless enough that the Moon and Jupiter would probably be visible. And they showed up. :) But the surprise was great when the binoculars also reached Saturn. After a long search, the telescopes were also pointed towards the planet. And whether that pixel was recorded on the "film" of the camera. Jeij! This is where the observation period begins again. There were no illuminating night clouds, and yes, in such a clear sky, I ...

Partial solar eclipse

10.6.2021 at 12.51 - 15.19 - Rovaniemi (IV)
Sari Pietikäinen, Corona Borealis, Rovaniemi

Huh hell! We had great luck in Rovaniemi, when at no point did the clouds from the eclipse come to disturb the display. gathered with an association group in the Arctic Park to observe, and of course, more audiences were welcomed to the venue, although there was no time to actually advertise the event. Yes, a few outsiders did. I still sometimes learn how to make a decent picture collage ... ny became tommonen. : D The intention was to take a picture evenly every 5 minutes, but when there is no programmable shutter and tracking stand ... and of course I had to socialize, visit Ursa's live ...

Half-sky auroras

17.4.2021 at 23.45 - 02.20 - Kiiminki (IV)
Sari Pietikäinen, Corona Borealis, Rovaniemi

I didn't have to go to shoot tonight either, the monitoring of the previous night was still felt ... But the sky was cloudless and the forecasts were good, so I didn't mind staying home. Again, there was an arc in the sky as soon as I arrived. Well, then at that pace, while digging the camera out of the bag, I somehow managed to pull the trigger of the trigger off its connector. That's it then. And then you had to start researching the instructions for where that timed trigger was found. A clear sign will end the season tonight. What I didn’t get described at the beginning was an a...

All-sky aurora

16.4.2021 at 23.40 - 01.30 - Kiiminki (V)
Sari Pietikäinen, Corona Borealis, Rovaniemi

Heh! This was these evenings again ... or really the nights. I had already inked during the day that it was no longer worthwhile to go chasing repos. It is already far too bright, and at the height of Oulu you will be quieter than in the north. But then I still jumped in the car at dusk. And good so. The ice cliffs already had a dim wide arch roaring directly above when I arrived. At midnight, brighter belts, rays, green and purple began to dance in the sky. Half past one, Korona pushed on for the first time. The disco also started. This was the first one for himself, huh. At times you come a ...

Moon

26.3.2021 at 22.40 - Oulu (III)
Sari Pietikäinen, Corona Borealis, Rovaniemi

Evening moon photographed from the balcony. The previous night was awesome cloudless, not quite. There is a cloud of thistle in the sky that obscures the details of the moon a little. But it still came pretty nice. :) I guess there was a bit of a circle around it, but of course I didn't get any valid pictures of it .... #bongaa100

Moon

Intent. For once, I got such an accurate picture of the moon. There were no clouds on, and the apartment building did not sway ...: D So imagining the balcony views. #bongaa100

All-sky aurora

24.3.2021 at 22.00 - 23.59 - Rovaniemi (V)
Sari Pietikäinen, Corona Borealis, Rovaniemi

Oops. Expectations for tonight's repos weren't terribly high, so this corona job was completely surprising .... By 10pm I was at the set, and the sky was still way too bright for my eyes to separate the green. However, it was seen from the pictures afterwards that there was already an arc on the low horizon. By 10:40 p.m., the arch was beginning to come to life, and by 10:50 p.m., it was already separating some belt-like activity in the sky. That’s where they then come in a bright race with the moon dancing for a long time, until 11.30pm it started to look like the show is over. Even t...

Half-sky auroras

21.3.2021 at 21.15 - 23.00 - Rovaniemi (IV)
Sari Pietikäinen, Corona Borealis, Rovaniemi

I arrived at scene 21 at the time. The half moon would illuminate the landscape, and I could not separate the green from the sky with my eyes. However, the camera immediately found a dim wide arc. By the time of 21.50, a bright arc visible to the eye appeared below it. After a little ten, both arches began to live. 22.22 began the brightest and liveliest phase of the show, which lasted perhaps ten minutes, then the fire calmed down. There they were left behind behind a thin cloud curtain to shatter when at 23 o'clock had to start melting their toes ...

Moon

16.3.2021 at 19.24 - Sodankylä (III)
Sari Pietikäinen, Corona Borealis, Rovaniemi

With a little evening ride on another hobby ...: D The early evening had been cloudy, but little by little the sky became clearer. Suddenly, somewhere near the Holy One, something bright in the sky happened. I started looking at a possible stop along the way. I finally ended up in Luosto in the parking lot of the Amethyst Mine, where the crescent moon was slowly sinking behind the fell. The rest of the trip to Rovaniemi was still visible. Fortunately, the camera was on the way. The intention was to make the country stand out better, but the skills and patience were not enough now. And there we...

Mars ja Plejadit

4.3.2021 at 22.20 - Oulu (III)
Sari Pietikäinen, Corona Borealis, Rovaniemi

Mars and Seulaset were pretty side by side, and even roared right in front of my balcony, so I had to take a photo of them. Unfortunately, my balcony points directly to the city center, so the amount of light pollution is huge. Well, but in a test sense, I took thirty 1.3-second exposures and stacked them. This was a good exercise for using the program (I didn’t stack anything before), but in itself, over time, I got a similar picture from just one picture. And oh, I had to settle for 1-second exposures, the little ones meant the stars would lose their shape ... I hope I can get to shoot Seula...

Sari Pietikäinen, Corona Borealis, Rovaniemi

Now, waiting for the northern lights, there were far fewer clouds heading towards the city than the night before. However, there is still too much light ... I grabbed a photo of Orion, Taurus and Seulas with Mars. Yes, these patterns are always just as wonderful a sight. :) #bongaa100

Half-sky auroras

2.3.2021 at 20.40 - 22.15 - Rovaniemi (IV)
Sari Pietikäinen, Corona Borealis, Rovaniemi

The forecasts were good and the sky clear. You will be wobbled by the already dim arc in the sky when I arrived at the scene. Then they soon exploded. : D For myself, this was definitely the best show of the season. To the naked eye, in addition to green, purple and reddish lower edges stood out from the fire. The tortuous belt momentarily moved so fast that I couldn’t keep up with the camera adjustments. Aijai! More of these. The last picture was taken around 22.00, when I had to head towards home ... That's where they were left to rumble. #bongaa100

1.3.2021 at 21.00 - 23.00 - Rovaniemi (III)
Sari Pietikäinen, Corona Borealis, Rovaniemi

In a new place hunting for repos ... Well, then, wondering about the light pollution of the city, I started to wonder about the reddish "star" that appeared below the Screens. The intention was to take a picture later in the evening of this encounter between Mars and Seulast in a longer tube, but it was then forgotten when the reposet struck properly. So in the picture — in addition to my friend — Mars and Sifties in the middle and a subtle purple northern lights above. So that even the greenery on the edge tries to sneak into the picture. There is no information about the time when the camera...

Half-sky auroras

1.3.2021 at 20.30 - 23.00 - Rovaniemi (IV)
Sari Pietikäinen, Corona Borealis, Rovaniemi

For a long time I got to shoot repos! Jeij! I boldly set out to test the new location, and it turned out to be pretty good. The sky was soaring when you arrived, and I probably filmed for a couple of hours. The camera clock had jumped for twenty hours for some reason, so there are no exact times. However, the pictures were taken around 8.30pm to 11pm. The rising clouds and the light pollution reflected from them a little disturbed, but luckily the fire was mostly in the other direction from the sky. In the enthusiasm of the novelty, almost 300 images had to be raped. : D They are now roughly g...

Cloudless sky for a long time! We left with a friend a camera and a telescope with us to Kroopinpalo to marvel at the sky. There was a little unnecessary light pollution, but something was still seen. Pictured starring the Lion. #bongaa100

Quiet aurora arc

7.2.2021 at 21.55 - 22.30 - Rovaniemi (II)
Sari Pietikäinen, Corona Borealis, Rovaniemi

For a long time a cloudless sky! We set off with a guy with a camera and a telescope with us to see what all the sky had to offer us. The place we chose turned out to be unnecessarily light polluted, but we didn’t let it interfere. Even small northern lights appeared immediately to our delight. Mostly they were so dim that they were only visible on the camera, but at times something was visible even to the naked eye. At 23 o'clock the clouds rolled on and we fled the scene. During the evening, more bongas came to the challenge again ... #bongaa100

One halo form

2.2.2021 at 15.40 - 16.00 - Oulu (I)
Sari Pietikäinen, Corona Borealis, Rovaniemi

I noticed a fun sun pillar below at noon today. In front of my balcony hovered ice crystals that glistened nicely. I took a couple of pictures of it on my mobile phone, but it didn't become very strange. And a clear pillar above and below. I was still trying to record that on my cell phone, but it didn't become anything. For a long time there had been nothing decent to describe, so I had almost forgotten the wit lurking in the hallway. : D Noni. Camera highlighted and new attempt. #bongaa100

Quiet aurora arc

3.1.2021 at 21.45 - 23.55 - Inari (II)
Sari Pietikäinen, Corona Borealis, Rovaniemi

We were with a friend in Saariselkä for New Year's Eve, and the weather never looked good when it came to watching the northern lights. In the evening, they were sore with their fins at Aurora's living room and were lit by the fireplace. I took a couple of test shots, and right away there was a promising greenery on the northern horizon. Thin clouds soon rose before the fires, but at some point the greenery began to show through the clouds as well. Eventually handed over with the clouds and headed away. On the way, however, the cloudless horizon and brighter repos soon hit my eyes! Jei...
