Aktiivinen revontulivyö

28.9.2020 at 21.11 - 21.23 - Tampere (III)
Satu Mäkelä, Tampereen Ursa

Menin Tampereen Ursan tähtitornin tasanteelle heti pimeän tultua revontulien toivossa. Mekkein heti alkoi tapahtuman silmällä erotti himmeää vihreätä ja liiikkeen muotoja. Kamera erotti enemmän toimintaa.

Total lunar eclipse

21.1.2019 at 06.30 - 07.00 - Tampere
Satu Mäkelä, Tampereen Ursa

I went to the platform of Ursa Tower in Tampere to watch the progress of the eclipse before going to work. A nice red eclipse in perfectly clear weather. The cold drove inside after half an hour. The magnification of PowerShot was not enough for a very close-up.

Useita halomuotoja

7.4.2018 at 15.19 - 16.09 - Tampere (II)

Total solar eclipse

21.8.2017 at 12.14 - 13.34 - Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Yhdysvallat (V)
Antti Mäkelä, Pasi Ojala, Satu Mäkelä, Laura Mäkelä, Tampereen Ursa

Tracking the eclipse near the centerline at the local gas station parking lot. Getting there was no problem, but getting off took a 250-mile journey closer to 11 hours. The gas station provided a good framework for monitoring the progress of the eclipse elsewhere in the United States in the form of its public television. A few whimsical clouds during the partial phase but otherwise completely clear. Someone decided to combine fireworks with the perfect stage. Addition from Satu Mäkela: In front of our blanket was a couple watching their first eclipse. They admired the quietly darkening sun. In...

Pääsateenkaari

25.6.2017 at 20.56 - Tampere (III)
Satu Mäkelä, Tampereen Ursa

Sateenkaari joka näkyi hyvin lyhyen aikaa. Hetken aikaa oli havaittavissa heikko tuplasateenkaarikin. Oman pihan sijainti hiukan rajoitti koko sateenkaaren näkymisen.

Quiet aurora arc

28.3.2017 at 22.03 - Tampere (II)
Satu Mäkelä, Tampereen Ursa

I decided to go see if even the previous night’s Northern Lights spectacle would repeat when that night went to sleep lands. It didn't quite happen that way, but I still saw a very bright momentary arc of northern lights with very little movement.

Pearl clouds

13.2.2017 at 16.47 - Tampere (IV)
Satu Mäkelä, Tampereen Ursa

I was coming home with a child when I noticed colored clouds in the direction of the sunset. I wasn’t able to focus on shooting very much at the time, but I managed to grab one quite demonstrable one. The play was probably wider, but the houses on the street covered a large part of the sky at that height.

A fireball at night, brigter than the venus

19.1.2017 at 18.00 - Tampere (III)
Satu Mäkelä, Jouni Raunio, Laura Mäkelä, Kari A. Kuure, Tampereen Ursa

On a forest night on a starry evening, Antti Mäkelä and I saw a fireball that was bluish and its flight path was from a big bear to a little bear. The fireball went out abruptly after a few seconds.

Pääsateenkaari

19.8.2016 at 20.49 - Tampere (III)
Satu Mäkelä, Tampereen Ursa

Between the sauna, we deviated from cooling off outside and Antti Mäkelä ponged this nice double rainbow which we had time to photograph before it disappeared.

Useita halomuotoja

19.1.2016 at 11.00 - 11.30 - Pirkkala, Partola (II)

Yksi halomuoto

8.1.2016 at 15.12 - Tampere (I)

Harvinaisia halomuotoja

7.1.2016 at 07.55 - Tampere, Lakalaiva (IV)

Active aurora band

28.8.2015 at 23.00 - Tampere
Satu Mäkelä, Tampereen Ursa

When the predictions promised good, I went to the plateau of the Ursa tower in Tampere to see if anything would happen. At eleven o'clock in the evening, northern lights began to appear that grew stronger all the time. At midnight, activity waned. I enthusiastically photographed across the plateau and admired the moving bright northern lights. Great show.

Several bright halo forms

14.5.2014 at 10.30 - 11.00 - Tampere, Hallila (III)
Satu Mäkelä, Tampereen Ursa

At home, the flu and the Irish began to shout that now halos are visible. I had to go out and see and shoot. A spectacular halo ensemble that I could not name all the parts with certainty.

Starscape image

28.3.2014 at 22.00 - 00.00 - Ylöjärvi (III)
Satu Mäkelä, Tampereen Ursa

I went to a star show with Antti Mäkelä to mark the cooperation between Tampere's Ursa and Gren towers in Karhe, Ylöjärvi. There were about ten participants. The starry sky was as dark as it could be at this time of summer and the orbit was clearly visible. The night sounds of swans echoed in the silence of the countryside. We looked at the following items: Cat's Eye Nebula NGC 6543 (Shape, center star, bluish gray), Crab Nebula M1 / NGC 1952 (Fog shape, stars in fog), Lyra Ring Nebula M57 / NGC 6720 (Ring and Star Star Clear), Pleiades M45, Bode's Nebula M81 (Shape, some stars), A...

Several halo forms

5.12.2012 at 13.53 - Tampere (II)
Satu Mäkelä, Tampereen Ursa

Another cold day in a row 16-18 degrees below zero. The study window and emergency exit again provided good shooting opportunities. This, too, was evident for quite some time. Picture of the brightest stage.

4.12.2012 at 11.40 - Tampere (II)
Satu Mäkelä, Tampereen Ursa

Cold day about -18 degrees below zero. 22-degree halo ring with side suns. Seen for a long time, the picture is from the brightest moment. The picture was taken at the upper end of the workplace fire escape near the Tampere-Pirkkala border.
