Moon

21.8.2021 at 23.34 - Tuusula (V)
Kari Hassinen, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair

The sightings were quite cloudy, but as the almost full Moon rose, the cloud curtain gradually cracked, and the Moon became fully visible before midnight. The clouds created a special atmosphere in the image.

Moon

15.8.2021 at 21.42 - Tuusula (III)
Kari Hassinen, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair

The first quarter of the month (52%). At the time of shooting, the Moon had been partially covered by clouds for a few minutes, and only a quarter of it was visible. Very soon after this, the clouds completely covered the Moon.

Arcus cloud

23.6.2021 at 14.32 - Tuusula (IV)
Kari Hassinen, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair

The sky gradually darkened, and based on the weather forecast, rain and thunder were expected. When the avalanche cloud came in, it progressed really fast. The wind picked up quite unexpectedly, and on our property (at my location) one tree broke and another fell. I had to stop filming in the middle when there was a rush to get the Pets from the paddock to the shelter in the stable. The shooting interval between the two images is 28 seconds.

Partial solar eclipse

10.6.2021 at 13.16 - 14.07 - Tuusula (IV)
Kari Hassinen, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair

I had prepared for a partial solar eclipse in good time by crafting in front of the lens of a solar filter camera a few weeks ago. I used a yoghurt jar as the body of the filter, and I think the end result is working properly. At the observation site in my backyard there was rain but partly cloudy, and sometimes the clouds covered the sun for a long time. Fortunately, however, the sun appeared on several occasions from the clouds during the eclipse, and I got the eclipse described.

Moon

22.5.2021 at 22.02 - Tuusula (III)
Kari Hassinen, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair

Images taken from the moon are mostly shot in the dark. I thought of making an exception and photographed the Moon in the evening at sunset when it was in the south and thus at its highest. The phase of the moon was growing, and at that time it was about 83% illuminated.

Rare halos

3.5.2021 at 07.00 - 14.00 - Tuusula (IV)
Kari Hassinen, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair

Instead of morning news, there was a program organized by nature outside. For many hours, several different halos were visible, some of which I saw for the first time in nature.

Several halo forms

12.4.2021 at 09.00 - 10.00 - Tuusula (II)
Kari Hassinen, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair

The rather lukewarm side suns first appeared in the morning sky, and after admiring them for a while, I started my work day normally. After a while, the president of our association sent a photo as a group message, which also had a 22-degree arc. After looking out, I noticed that the arch was also visible in my own position. The phenomenon was visible for at least an hour, probably somewhat longer.

Moon

24.11.2020 at 17.30 - 20.00 - Tuusula (IV)
Kari Hassinen, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair

The moon got around its magnificent scenes when the sky was partly cloudy and the air was cooling on the surface of the earth to near zero degrees. As cloud cover and air humidity varied, the intensity and colors of the perimeter around the moon varied continuously for a couple of hours, after which the weather became clearer.

At least 10 lightning strikes seen

24.8.2020 at 01.26 - Tuusula (III)
Kari Hassinen, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair

On the night of August, there was a magnificent almost silent light show from the observation site to the southeast. I admired the flashes from my home balcony first for a long time before I took out the camera. I hadn’t taken any pictures of the flash before, so this didn’t immediately come to mind either. There was no rain at all during the lightning, and a faint rumble was heard from only some of the lightning after a long delay.

One halo form

18.2.2019 at 07.37 - Tuusula (I)
Kari Hassinen, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair

Today was a particularly fine sunrise as the clouds above the yellow horizon stained in different shades of red, orange and purple. Even more subtle was the view when, with the sun still below the horizon, a short section of the sun pillar was visible in the sky for a couple of minutes as a reflection of the sun. The observation site had 3 degrees of frost.

Several halo forms

22.1.2019 at 16.00 - Vantaa (II)
Kari Hassinen, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair

On a cold frosty day along the commute, there were apparently both clouds caused by airplanes and natural few cloud formations in the sky, forming a faint sun pillar.

One halo form

20.1.2019 at 15.46 - Hyvinkää (I)
Kari Hassinen, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair

On a cold frosty day in the center of Hyvinkää, there was a spectacular play of nature, when the sun made the ice crystals shine mainly in different shades of orange and yellow.
