All-sky aurora

17.3.2015 at 19.35 - 22.15 - Nurmijärvi, Lepsämä (V)
Mikko Koivisto

I put my spoon in the soup too. It was an amazing evening. Too bad that the Sleeping Mat came before midnight because of the wake up at 6 :)

I join the ranks of numerous observers. Yes this was already a great night cloud show :)

Half-sky auroras

17.3.2013 at 21.00 - Nurmijärvi, Lepsämä (IV)
Mikko Koivisto

Let me put mine as a follow-up to numerous other northern lights observations. It was an unforgettable evening, a southern man with cameras as a motherfucker! I tried my best to even photograph something.

Half-sky auroras

7.10.2015 at 21.00 - 21.30 - Espoo (IV)
Mikko Koivisto

Great evening by the pond. Although there were occasional overcast clouds in the sky, it did not dim the brightest northern lights. At its best, the green gauze appeared almost full of the sky, and even to the south, tense spots developed (last picture), ones I had never seen before.

Rare halos

30.4.2012 at 10.30 - Espoo (IV)
Mikko Koivisto

In the morning, clear, sharply drawn arches above and below the pool were visible. I didn't anticipate the best moment to shoot, I still got something on the iPhone. Weak side suns were also visible for a short time.

Rare halos

14.5.2014 at 07.00 - 13.00 - Espoo (IV)
Mikko Koivisto

Let me add my own observations from yesterday. Meininki was wild. The first halos appeared at about 6.30 and half an hour later the show was already quite. Especially the 22 ° upside was unprecedentedly bright. Unfortunately, I had to settle for the cell phone pictures I took during the work day, and I don’t know what all was left unseen. Well, I still got some documentary. I also don’t necessarily know how to name all the arcs correctly. Let maintenance be fixed ...

Total lunar eclipse

21.1.2019 at 06.40 - 07.12 - Nurmijärvi, Lepsämä (IV)
Mikko Koivisto

Come a little in the aftermath reported here. Just before I left for work, I used to photograph that deepest phase from my backyard. It was a handsome and interesting sight to follow from the cloudless sky :)

The first actual night cloud observation of the summer for me. I watched the situation in the field for an hour.

Bright night shining clouds

I wonder if I can see my observation now ... The night clouds were great here too, even though they remained quite low in the northeast direction. Worth watching! :)

Bright night shining clouds

8.8.2016 at 00.05 - Nurmijärvi, Lepsämä (IV)
Mikko Koivisto

The night clouds started appearing on Sunday night right after 11 p.m. Best when the day changes. I also went to the Espoo side by the pond to shoot, but a small breeze spoiled the reflections from the pond surface.

Bright night shining clouds

Bright night clouds, but lots of ordinary cloud raft in front. For a moment they formed a nice contrast. In this picture, as a small additional spice, great car lights from behind the forest :)

Bright night shining clouds

8.7.2018 at 00.20 - 01.00 - Nurmijärvi, Lepsämä ja Espoo Majalampi (IV)
Mikko Koivisto

After an exciting football match, night jump fibers were visible on almost every side of the oxygen jump. By far the brightest and most handsome area in the west-northwest. Nothing but shooting shots for stumps and nearby field openings. I followed the situation in the field for a while. I noticed that the wind calmed down so I decided to visit Majalammi on the Espoo side. However, when I got there, the screen faded, I had time to grab a couple of frames (second picture). When I got home, something more developed in the northeast, but I couldn't describe it anymore. Great, warm summer nigh...

The best set of the season so far. At first it was clearly located on the northeast side, but as it got dark, the northern cloud area became clearer.

Bright night shining clouds

27.7.2018 at 00.00 - 01.10 - Perniö (IV)

Yes, these "tropical" summer nights have now provided great moments. Although the lunar eclipse was largely behind the clouds, the more spectacular night clouds are rewarding :)

When a hot day always somehow lasts, it is often the most spectacular outdoor weather in the evening. So it was last night with spectacular shining clouds .. :)

Bright night shining clouds

16.7.2020 at 01.00 - 01.30 - Nurmijärvi (IV)
Mikko Koivisto

The first really handsome show this summer that I didn’t quite miss. I woke up by chance at 1 o'clock and peeked out, well in the field I had to go grab a few pictures and back to the bed. Fortunately, the holiday is about to begin. Mostly have to go for a night out :)

Bright night shining clouds

21.7.2020 at 01.00 - 03.00 - Vihti (IV)
Mikko Koivisto

In the evening, I hoped to toddle the difficult forest path. The trip had to be folded for a couple of kilometers (dodging toads) to the beautiful Saaren-Musta pond. Would there be illuminating night clouds? Well, they started to stand out around midnight, and by 1 o'clock they were already reflected handsomely at the base of the pond. There were a few norm clouds in front of it and the sky was a bit hazy, but still the dim night cloud gauze was visible up to the zenith. Atmospheric summer night. The cuckoos and loons accompaniment with their mecca :) The last picture in the series from th...

Starscape image

The moon rose behind the forest illuminating the foggy golf course. The vision could even be described as ghostly. Anyway, I think it was a great moment. During the shooting session, the plane also stuttered in the sector :)

Jupiter and the Moon. The fast-moving ragged cloud cover turned into a circular shape of varying shape around the moon. Pretty nice looking play :)

The starry sky appeared stunningly abundant and contrasting in the outer archipelago. A tourist from the Helsinki metropolitan area was amazed :)
