Pääsateenkaari

31.8.2020 at 18.15 - 18.25 - Pudasjärvi (IV)
Esa Pekka Isomursu, Ursa (Pohjois-Suomi)

An exceptionally bright piece of the main rainbow was visible for ten minutes on the Input (the image is barely saturated, the colors were naturally strong). Counter-cloud rays also stand out against the rain.

Partial lunar eclipse

17.7.2019 at 00.01 - Pudasjärvi (III)
Esa Pekka Isomursu, Ursa (Pohjois-Suomi)

The partially darkened rising moon was nicely visible on the Feed. There was still enough sunlight left that the landscape did not go black. Even the higher clouds did not have time to bother at this stage. That is, on behalf of Keli, everything was right for moon / landscape photography :-D

Several halo forms

4.3.2019 at 08.15 - 08.40 - Pudasjärvi (II)
Esa Pekka Isomursu, Ursa (Pohjois-Suomi)

The feed showed such a bright sun pillar that you couldn’t even look at it. Initially, relatively modest side suns were also seen, which gradually disappeared.

Several halo forms

26.1.2019 at 15.00 - Pudasjärvi (II)
Esa Pekka Isomursu, Ursa (Pohjois-Suomi)

When shooting cannon trees on the bait, bright side suns and a sun pillar were momentarily visible in the sky. Focusing on the cannons, I forgot to describe those side suns :-) but there is an atmosphere of the pillar.

Total lunar eclipse

21.1.2019 at 06.50 - 07.20 - Pudasjärvi, Syöte
Esa Pekka Isomursu, Ursa (Pohjois-Suomi)

Here are a few pictures of the complete lunar eclipse from the Feed. When driving off the car the gauge looked crisp -33C, but the top of the fell was barely so cold.

Clearly visible night shining clouds

7.8.2018 at 01.10 - 01.40 - Hailuoto (III)
Esa Pekka Isomursu, Ursa (Pohjois-Suomi)

Here, even at the heights of Oulu, the nights begin to be dark enough to watch the night clouds. Attached is a picture from last night. It has been slightly photographed from aesthetic points of view (clarity, local brush, etc.). However, the picture is realistic. The moon roared naturally in that, which was challenging for the exposure.

Funnel cloud

5.8.2018 at 23.20 - 23.25 - Hailuoto
Esa Pekka Isomursu, Ursa (Pohjois-Suomi)

At sea, funnel clouds were visible on the edge of a thunderstorm cell passing west of Hailuoto. In the second picture, there are five of them. My son told me that when I was looking for the camera, the funnel in the main picture had clearly grown and shrunk again. Is it rare for these to be seen this way at night? Earlier in the day, a water statue had been seen in the same place.

Rare halos

24.6.2018 at 13.29 - Skagen, Tanska (IV)
Esa Pekka Isomursu, Ursa (Pohjois-Suomi)

In Skagen, at the very northern tip of Denmark, a bright halo play was seen for a moment around the high sun. I would ask for identification help for what can be found in the picture. Is there a 22 degree lateral arc with the 22 rings? A colorful beam that goes diagonally across the horizon ring is likely to be the "norm" of the side sun? Is the faint colored arc in the center of the confused image part of a 46 degree ring or what? In the last image, is the brightness visible in the horizon ring almost opposite the sun anything special? The phenomenon was only visible for a moment and then wea...

Anomaalinen kehä

8.6.2017 at 23.27 - Hailuoto (IV)
Esa Pekka Isomursu, Ursa (Pohjois-Suomi)

I am asking for identification help here: is it an aureola or a pollen ring stained by the reddened sun, or some other phenomenon? The sun was just setting or setting (not directly visible but could still be behind the cloud on the horizon) and above it the sky showed a strikingly intense orange-red spherical glow. Looking with the naked eye, it was an even more concrete "ball" than what is shown in the picture.

Several bright halo forms

22.3.2016 at 20.17 - Oulu (III)
Esa Pekka Isomursu, Ursa (Pohjois-Suomi)

The really bright and colorful side moons were well visible even in the light of the street lamps when driving away from the center of Oulu. "Traditionally" they had time to dim a bit before I picked up the camera from home and got to shoot in the dark, but yes the phenomenon still had to show up at the time. At first, I could see something above the ring as well, but when I was shooting there was nothing left. Is there a pillar in the pictures? Many others in the Oulu region seem to have noticed this show.

Pearl clouds

27.12.2015 at 10.40 - Pudasjärvi (IV)
Esa Pekka Isomursu

Are these normal clouds of color and do they often appear bright relatively far from the sun? The sun had risen ten minutes earlier when I noticed a really colorful lonely cloud in the sky. The phenomenon became clear for ten minutes and then gradually faded and disappeared.

Rare halos

5.1.2015 at 01.30 - Pudasjärvi (IV)
Esa Pekka Isomursu

The bright full moon brought a handsome halo phenomenon to the sky at Syötte in Pudasjärvi. I’m not an expert at halos at all, so please check what’s in the picture. Is there another perimeter near the moon or is it something due to the lens and does an opaque arc, etc., stand out at the bottom of the big perimeter?

Rare halos

14.5.2014 at 09.35 - Oulu (IV)
Esa Pekka Isomursu, Ursa (Pohjois-Suomi)

Attached are a few pictures 14.5. halo play. The best stage in Oulu passed before I had time to get the camera, but it was still handsome at that time.

Rare halos

18.1.2014 at 11.42 - 12.02 - Pudasjärvi (IV)
Esa Pekka Isomursu, Ursa (Pohjois-Suomi)

While browsing the old pictures, I tried to identify the following phenomenon and came across a similar observation of Teija Pohjanvesi (https://www.taivaanvahti.fi/observations/show/32362) from almost the same place (both near the top of Iso-Syötte), also from 2014. The sun was already in the high sky (to the extent that it rises high at that time of year) in the picture on the right, clearly above the splash of color, so it must be the underside of the sun. The phenomenon was visible for at least 20 minutes. The saturation of the image has been somewhat added to correspond to the subjective ...
