One halo form

19.10.2021 at 16.00 - 16.15 - Espoo (III)
Ville Wahlman

It was observed from the balcony whether that is now a 22 ° ring. The wall and ceiling of the balcony blocked the view, so the whole halo could not be seen.

The cottage again came to watch the sunset. Today, in addition, a sun pillar that was still reflected from the sea surface. On the phone, I grabbed a couple of pictures, the horizon slightly adjusted, otherwise unprocessed. Another used a telephone digizome.

Pearl clouds

25.12.2017 at 08.45 - 08.52 - Helsinki (III)
Ville Wahlman

While watching the sunrise, I noticed clouds resembling illuminating night clouds, but they are certainly pearl clouds, even though strange colors were not noticeable. Photographed on a cell phone so the pictures are not very good quality.

I don’t even know about the illuminating night clouds, then I went to photograph one satellite. Iridium 54.

Several halo forms

12.12.2016 at 00.30 - Espoo (II)
Ville Wahlman

At night I noticed the moon's side sun from the window and had time to take a couple of pictures from the balcony with random (bad) settings. From the raw image, halos have been excavated in the lightroom, adding little exposure and strongly highlights.

Several halo forms

11.12.2016 at 14.05 - 14.55 - Espoo (II)
Ville Wahlman

At 2 p.m., I spotted a halo from the balcony after wondering at the fog like an arctic sea urchin, which was still really high, however, and I went out to photograph the halo. After taking the first pictures, I noticed floating ice crystals in the air. The cloud area was moving slowly in the direction of Helsinki and at 14.50 the low cloud area had already moved completely to the Helsinki side, when the halos disappeared from my own location. Both images are combinations of three exposures.

Bright night shining clouds

1.8.2016 at 00.40 - 01.45 - Alavus-Alajärvi (IV)
Ville Wahlman

We drove at night from Southern Finland to Southern Ostrobothnia and for the last hour we got to watch the first decent night cloud display. Fine was, bright and great shapes. The image is a panorama of two images taken with the phone.

While filming from Espoo to Helsinki, part of the halo was still visible at 06.50.

I went looking for places where one could photograph the sunset, now such a hit occurred. It took about a minute, one and a half, before the cloud changed shape and the halo disappeared. A little poor knowledge of these, but probably the left side sun?

Several halo forms

5.1.2016 at 14.15 - Helsinki (II)
Ville Wahlman

The sun pillar and side suns appeared for a moment, whether a 22-degree curve would have been visible for a short distance. A few minutes later, the left side was covered in clouds and the colors on the right side were clearly strengthened to resemble a rainbow. Taken with a phone camera from the pier between Stenius Park and Kuusisaari. Edit: I added a couple of pictures, taken with different settings (white balance changed in the blue picture).

Half-sky auroras

17.3.2015 at 22.00 - Helsinki (IV)
Ville Wahlman

Due to the circumstances, I was stuck in Kaivopuisto and the shooting time was limited to 20-22. Due to light pollution, the description of the northern lights belt and rays was not successful, I got a few pictures of the corona seen at 10 p.m.
