Rare halos

20.1.2019 at 21.02 - 21.15 - Lahti (IV)
Tuomo Leppänen

With a boy photographing the Moon and the starry sky. The clouds came and went. Our attention was drawn to an elliptical small halo ring formed around the Moon, which I initially suspected was a 9-degree ring. However, this is probably an elliptical halo.

Several bright halo forms

4.12.2016 at 10.10 - 10.50 - Lahti (III)
Tuomo Leppänen

At ten corners, I noticed a pillar of bright sun, which, on closer inspection, emerged as a side sun with its pillars. The spectacular show was shown in about an hour. :)

Eye-catching night shining clouds

7.8.2016 at 23.00 - 02.00 - Lahti (V)
Tuomo Leppänen, Lahden Ursa

Early in the evening, after 23, I noticed bright night clouds in the sky. I decided to go to the shore of Lake Vesijärvi to shoot. The night clouds clearly drifted closer to the skyline, but when I returned home I noticed after 2 o'clock that the clouds had risen again a little higher than the horizon.

Transit of mercury

9.5.2016 at 14.12 - Lahti (IV)
Tuomo Leppänen, Lahden Ursa

Mercury overflow observation. The images were captured from the Olympus E-P1 HD video and the tube was a Meade ETX-90 mirror, which is very sensitive to vibration. Baader's solar film in use.

Sumukaari

31.8.2015 at 08.00 - Hollola (IV)
Tuomo Leppänen, Lahden Ursa

The morning mist served a spectacular fog arc in the direction of Tampere between Sairakkala and Lammi. This was taken between Hollola and Hämeenkoski at the bus stop. The first time I saw the phenomenon itself. :)

Clearly visible night shining clouds

19.8.2015 at 00.00 - Lahti (III)
Tuomo Leppänen, Lahden Ursa

I missed not updating this finding last fall. Now as I was browsing the pictures, I thought it was good to share because I don’t know how commonly night clouds and northern lights illuminating are observed at the same time. The night clouds were very close to the horizon and the northern lights were just green gauze, but still.

Clearly visible night shining clouds

13.8.2015 at 23.00 - 02.00 - Lahti (III)
Tuomo Leppänen, Lahden Ursa

After Perseids the night after the maximum, I went to describe myself as an optimist. More than 30 visual observations, even a few really spectacular, of star flights, but the night cloud show still lifted the mood, even though it didn’t get star flights to the cell.

Lightning photo

2.8.2015 at 22.30 - Lahti (IV)
Tuomo Leppänen, Lahden Ursa

After a weekend in the Jyväskylä region, the first "better" thunderstorm of the summer set the man in motion, albeit with a little crossed eyes. In the camera settings, the ISO value was a little too high, so the images were slightly overexposed, some of them just burst. However, a good feeling that came on the move.

Rare halos

25.7.2015 at 16.10 - 16.20 - Espoo (IV)
Tuomo Leppänen, Lahden Ursa

On Saturday afternoon after 4pm, I spotted a bright 22 ring around the Sun. The pictures also revealed something else, i.e. apparently e.g. 9 degree tire? Edit: Added blurred mask filtered versions of images. ps. for some reason, the system rotates some of the images. : /

Several halo forms

1.5.2015 at 12.00 - 14.45 - Lahti (II)
Tuomo Leppänen, Lahden Ursa

Already earlier in the day at Lahti Square at noon, my attention was drawn to the bright side sun on the 22-degree ring and a piece of the horizon ring, which was most clearly visible on the north side. When I got home, I had to take a camera and go to see if that horizon ring could still be seen in the pictures, and it was. There may be other halo forms involved, but I do not recognize them.

Sun

9.3.2015 at 12.12 - Lahti (IV)
Tuomo Leppänen, Lahden Ursa

When the Sun appeared under the gray for a long time, a pipe had to be dug and a filter built on it from the membrane emerged. The comma AR2297 was well visible.

A fireball at night, brigter than the venus

22.8.2014 at 23.25 - Lahti (III)
Tuomo Leppänen, Lahden Ursa

As the clouds and lightning flashed, and a few flashes appeared, a 1-2s bright flash in the southwest caught my attention. The picture comes when I get to look at them more closely in the morning, but some kind of fireball was involved. The lightning trigger responds.

Primary rainbow

15.8.2014 at 16.40 - Lahti (III)
Tuomo Leppänen, Lahden Ursa

In the afternoon thunderstorm, a spectacular rainbow and friends appeared. Score for my son, who first bong the phenomenon. :)

At least 10 lightning strikes seen

Last night, the cameras got to sing. Another maker was controlled by Hähnel's timer and another by Nero Trigger. The attached images were taken with that Nero flash trigger. A link to the large GIF animation, which was depicted as a time child with long exposure, can be found at http://www.leppaset.com/myrsky2014/15minin5s.gif Much of the pictures without going through, but these were the most spectacular shots.

Eye-catching night shining clouds

24.7.2014 at 01.25 - 02.02 - Lahti (V)
Tuomo Leppänen, Lahden Ursa

And again this delicacy. I woke up half past two awake and glanced out. The clouds in the sky began to tear and behind them a view was revealed as shown in the pictures below.

Eye-catching night shining clouds

22.7.2014 at 00.00 - 01.12 - Lahti (V)
Tuomo Leppänen, Lahden Ursa

Shortly before midnight, I glanced at the northern horizon. To be sure, I couldn’t tell if it was cloudy gauze or night clouds. Watching was worth it this time. :) Pictures taken at midnight on both sides, from 11:47 pm, but the system does not allow such notification. :: EDIT :: And the link to the video is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdjRwjgl_F0

Bright night shining clouds

18.7.2014 at 01.17 - Lahti (IV)
Tuomo Leppänen, Lahden Ursa

A quick glance at the sky was worth it tonight as well. However, I did not capture more images, but the image shows the same cloud as in several other observations from different locations.

Clearly visible night shining clouds

12.7.2014 at 01.00 - 01.26 - Lahti (III)
Tuomo Leppänen, Lahden Ursa

It was worth looking out the window again at night. Admittedly, tonight I couldn't go beyond the window to describe it, but it's probably good enough to see these as well. :) At about half past two, small clouds then began to come into the sky to cover the shimmering night clouds.

Clearly visible night shining clouds

8.7.2014 at 00.24 - 02.31 - Lahti (III)
Tuomo Leppänen, Lahden Ursa

From the observation of the previous night, I guessed that something could be seen tonight as well. I used to glance at the sky at half past one, and soon I was already on my way to a better location on the shore of Lake Vesijärvi. The top night clouds were visible in the eastern sky. Halfway through the two corners, the clouds began to stand out in the west as well. In the north, the clouds were only visible between about 2:00 and 2:30.

Hyvin heikkoja yöpilviä

7.7.2014 at 01.45 - Lahti (I)
Tuomo Leppänen, Lahden Ursa

Positive observation of Lahti from the illuminating night clouds. At first, a small gauze was seen in the northeast, closer to two then a single belt and even small devices from the west to the northeast in the sky. The pictures did not dream well in the eye. The phenomenon was very modest and the summer night was bright anyway.
