Light pillars

2.12.2021 at 01.52 - 02.15 - Lappeenranta (II)
Terhi Törmälä

Last night was a good weather for the artificial light pillars in Lappeenranta. The first of the season for me and so handsome that they had to be immortalized in pictures.

Quiet aurora arc

After all, it had to start wondering about the almost cloudless night sky, because once it became clear. The Pilkkahiekka marina in Sarviniemi, Taipalsaari, and near Saimaanranta, is a good base this time too, even with a brisk 10 m / s north wind (and much more gusts in gusts). With my own eyes I didn't see the northern lights properly at any point properly, it was taken care of by a very bright moonlight. The first photo was taken in Sarviniemi towards the tip of the peninsula to the east at 21.58, the delicate greenery of the northern lights can be seen in the northeast while the moon i...

Quiet aurora band

8.11.2021 at 22.50 - 02.10 - Taipalsaari (II)
Terhi Törmälä

I was late for the first sub-storm, but I had a great time for the second. Quite beautiful it was quite spectacular with air glow stripes. Later at night, in the lands of midnight, a diffuse, pulsating "spot" appeared in the northeastern sky above the northeastern end of the arc of northern lights. Based on the images, it was visible for about 15 minutes approximately. I later heard that they had been in the southeast and southwest skies as well, but there was no visibility in those directions from where I was at the switch.

Airglow clearly visible

8.11.2021 at 22.50 - Taipalsaari (I)
Terhi Törmälä

As the northern lights of the evening and night were photographed, it quickly became clear that there was also quite a strong glow in the air. As orange-red and striped, it was quite a handsome sight, well worth my own observation.

Quiet aurora arc

6.11.2021 at 20.30 - 20.50 - Lappeenranta (II)
Terhi Törmälä

Surprisingly, I became clear in Lappeenranta, so I quickly went to photograph the northern lights on the nearby beach (I wouldn't have had any longer) in Lappeenranta. The orange sodium lamps in the factory area hampered filming, but maybe you can get something clear from those pictures. I hit the beach just right at the beginning of the storm and got it recorded before the clouds rolled forward again. The beginning was so bright that the green color was visible to my own eyes, not just to the camera.

Several halo forms

22 degree perimeter to hear and I do not know I just imagine, but is also the inner perimeter? I'll leave it to the Savior to decide if. Photo taken at 11:32 p.m. Edit. Another image added. This was taken a little earlier than that first put picture. 23.20

Rare halos

19.10.2021 at 21.38 - 21.52 - Taipalsaari (III)
Terhi Törmälä

I went out to photograph the repos with a guy on Tuesday night when the values were good, but then it started to cloud the top clouds to the scene. After a small downstorm, I was left waiting to see if there would be a sequel, and as I looked at the sky, I noticed a pale western cloud. I checked the camera to see what it looked like and what it looked like. The confusion was caused by the fact that it was almost north of that halo / side moon and moon in the southeast. Apparently it is a 120-degree side moon and part of a horizon ring as well. The images are unfortunately inaccurate, because w...

Quiet aurora band

19.10.2021 at 20.44 - 22.15 - Taipalsaari (II)
Terhi Törmälä

Repos almost lit by the full moon and partially covered by the upper clouds. The shift of the diffuse arcs past fine, at best 4 or 5 arcs were visible simultaneously in the sky. The substorm was milder than the beginning allowed. On the other hand, the images at the beginning are accurate but when I shot it I managed to sharpen the focus, so the pictures taken during and after the sub-poison are inaccurate, so .. maybe a little less annoying than if there had been a bigger sub-storm. The first picture was taken at 20.44, the second at 20.49 and the third at 20.51. Fourth and Fifth at 9:16 p.m.

Auroras seen through breaks in the clouds

14.10.2021 at 22.28 - 03.08 - Taipalsaari (III)
Terhi Törmälä

On Wednesday, Cloudiness agreed to give way a bit and because the reposimeters looked promising, I set off. When I got to my hut, a small boat shore, light was clearly visible from the cracks in the clouds, which turned out to be northern lights in the cloud cage. I took a few pictures and decided to move elsewhere hoping the sky would open up a little more. Well, it didn't open but it started to rain, the little deaf and was in a cloud all the time. I decided to drive home, but stop to check the situation at the first hitchhiking spot. It was worth stopping, because there the arch shone b...

Auroras seen through breaks in the clouds

13.10.2021 at 00.00 - 01.25 - Taipalsaari (III)
Terhi Törmälä

Even though the weather was foggy and rainy in Lappeenranta and the surrounding areas, I had to go on a "desperate trip" with the camera. Well, it wasn't. On Taipalsaari in Suur-Saimaa from two different points. The first was taken at 0.47 and the second at 1.17.

Rocket-related clouds

10.9.2021 at 04.30 - 04.50 - Taipalsaari (IV)
Terhi Törmälä

EDIT: Clouds identified as previous night's rocket launch drops. Although Ursa just said in the latest Zenith that the night cloud season is officially over, I photographed some well-looking clouds in the morning when I returned home from reposkytis. When I left Sarviniemi in Taipalsaari, I already saw that something was going on in the east, east-southeast, but I wasn't quite sure if I was delusional or not. On the way, I blinked in the direction of the rising sun and finally had to stop at the roadside to take a few pictures when I otherwise couldn’t have proved my observation. #rake...

Auroras seen through breaks in the clouds

6.9.2021 at 01.00 - 03.45 - Taipalsaari (II)
Terhi Törmälä

Northern lights from a cloud cloud in Sarviniemi, Taipalsaari. It was painful in the cloud, but perseverance (or madness?: D) was rewarded in the morning at three countries when the pivl curtain agreed to give way enough to get the pictures. The first picture was taken at 1.03 when the storm raged behind the days (visible as light to the eye, clear green in the pictures) The second photo was taken at 258, when another substorm activated the arc, now there was a little more visibility. The last picture of the night was taken at 3.45, when the rising sun began to wipe the northern lights dance o...

Active aurora band

28.8.2021 at 00.15 - 03.00 - Kontiolahti (III)
Terhi Törmälä

Lappeenranta was painfully cloudy and I wanted to see the northern lights, so get in and out and drive the car. I drove to Kontiolahti in Häikänniemi to photograph the northern lights. I saw the first set from the steering wheel of the car (the 6-way is way too woody to shoot) but I got along to the second. Worth leaving. At its best (at 00.23) the fires rose in diffuse way to zenith. It wasn’t until after three that I set off to drive home as the morning slowly dawned in the sky. Northern lights faded in the sky as the sun rose.

At least 10 lightning strikes seen

18.8.2021 at 23.53 - Inkoo (III)
Terhi Törmälä

I went to Kopparnäs with a friend to smoke a snack and have coffee and maybe describe a slightly windy night. A distant flash in the skyline in the south-facing direction made me tune the camera to shoot in the same direction and not for a while when it flashed really brightly a second time. Kalevantulia! And this time, in addition to the retina, it was stored on a cell. The brightest flicker that night. I put the phenomenon unclassified as spectacular, as the thunder was really far away (more than a hundred miles away by radar), but this flash was really bright. Rapiat 10 flashes were seen.

Hyvin heikkoja yöpilviä

16.8.2021 at 03.52 - Loviisa (I)
Terhi Törmälä

Very faint illuminated night clouds photographed from the King's Road ABC station. The twinkling sky in the morning night showed gleaming clouds different from the other clouds, after I stopped I grabbed a few pictures and found that there are illuminating night clouds. The place was perhaps not the most beautiful possible in terms of filming, but I couldn’t stand to walk any further. Nice late observation.

Quiet aurora arc

7.8.2021 at 01.00 - 02.30 - Taipalsaari (II)
Terhi Törmälä

It was hoped to capture both the northern lights and the illuminating night clouds, but there was "satisfaction" with the other. These were not really visible to the eye, as light among the light. The camera screen said there was northern lights. Probably one of the earliest openings of the repo season, at least for me. Which makes it more comfortable. The first picture was taken at 1.19 and the second at 1.54.

Bright night shining clouds

4.8.2021 at 00.30 - 01.50 - Lappeenranta (IV)
Terhi Törmälä

A friend received a message that the night clouds. I left for the beach as soon as possible to see what it looked like. Lappeenranta still had a little cloudy in half of the countries, but it turned out well. The bright Nights glowed in the northern sky. Beautify.

Bright night shining clouds

2.8.2021 at 00.36 - 03.00 - Lappeenranta (IV)
Terhi Törmälä

Driving home from Lohja to Lappeenranta, I noticed that the illuminating night clouds were slowly brightening into the sky. In Uti (Uti ABC station parking lot) I stopped to take the first picture (at 0.36) because the night clouds were so bright (there is no beautiful picture, but it will tell you what it looked like then). When I got to Lappeenranta, I drove straight to the nearby beach to photograph more in a slightly more beautiful landscape. The second picture was taken at 2.03 and the third at 2.43.

Because of the gear, I photographed night clouds in an urban environment, thankfully they are not dimmed by other lights.

Eye-catching night shining clouds

20.7.2021 at 23.30 - 03.45 - Porvoo (V)
Terhi Törmälä

The best. Absolutely breathtaking night cloud show. There were shapes from side to side and when it felt like it couldn't become even more beautiful / finer, then in a moment something even more spectacular to look at in the sky. The first waves and weak belts were spotted at 23.30 on land and the last disappeared from view just under four in the morning as the sun rose.
