Reflected sunbeams

23.9.2021 at 08.33 - 08.46 - Kontiolahti (II)
Marko Riikonen

Spots of cloud rays reflected in the morning on the lower surface of the cloud when there was a suitable clear gap below. I took a series of pictures just in case the haa appeared. But often they snuggle up to appear without hps. Apparently I also became warm by making images of the ground that is at the time of observation at 5s intervals.

Moonn kehä

Marko Riikonen

The elliptical camera watched the moon again at the time of the observation. Now there was more potential than the night before, as most of the time the moon was behind the edge of Ac. But then it just evaporated away without turning into crystals. I stacked a 15x30s perimeter. 7 minutes into the game, a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide.

Yesterday, I stabbed the elliptical guard to hit the moon for a few hours. Here is a snippet after the last camera orientation. The cloud situation was not the most optimal in terms of ellipses, but not completely impossible. The perimeter appeared on two occasions, I happened to be outside myself then. The first was a large and bright perimeter in some middle cloud, i.e. at this point there was therefore potency in the ellipse. The other was in an invisible flat cloud, something foggy. Otherwise, the cloud is an upper cloud with a 22 ° ring visible outside the image. Yes, based on this perime...

Several halo forms

10.9.2021 at 18.30 - Joensuu (II)
Marko Riikonen

Yesterday I was stacking halos of the approaching warm front. Nothing came from something weird, like the last picture, a stack of 297 pictures every 7s shows. The list also includes halos that do not appear in this image. I did this Watch report only because I came to switch from 16mm to 4.5mm while the play was showing, where the ND filter in the latter allowed 30s exposure, and these relatively close-up images allowed for comparison. Of course, they are not directly comparable when there are different lenses and even a moment in the play is not exactly the same. But you can get some clues. ...

I filmed this play through a particularly dark Kodak Wrate gelatin ND filter I slid into the bottom of a 4.5 milligram Sigma. I got 30s shutter speeds with aperture f13. I was most pleased to be able to see the lower solar arc in the mirror (I pierced Martikainen with an enthusiastic message about this in the hectic nature of the situation), but the joy was reduced afterwards by the statement that I didn't notice the Wegener next door. At its best, the 46 ° overhang was really impressive in its color and intensity. This play would have certainly slipped past my eyes unless I had woken up b...

Other special clouds

5.9.2021 at 18.00 - Joensuu
Marko Riikonen

When I had recently seen a large cloud of holes, the eye also sensitized to much smaller ones. In fact, there was a kind of semi-power hole cloud development going on in the sky all the time, as the second picture shows.

I looked at whether there was a carefully cut curved Ac in the sky. That can only mean ... yes, a hole cloud from there was revealed as it moved a bit to see the bigger picture. Then quickly up to shoot and back down to shoot as the cloud moved behind the edge of the house. Images drawn with a fisheye with a diagonal of 180 °. ---- Added two less wide angle cell phone pictures that were put first.

Rare halos

Marko Riikonen

A rare "late season" ellipse. Yesterday, while cycling from the cottage to Joensuu, I took a break at the corner of the barn in Kissamäki and looked at the sky. There was a cloudy spot at the sun that looked like it might also contain an ellipse. However, I wasn’t at all sure, as the fibers are confusing, but I started taking pictures on the phone just like everything. After a few minutes when the display intensified to a final climax after a short pause, I was finally sure it was an ellipse. The pictures here are from that better end. I also made a video where I focused all 158 images on a st...

Stack of 200 images every 10s at the time of observation. Looked like a 9 ° ring.

A few days of warranties hellerapya. The time of observation is approximate. 1-2. 98 3-4. 100 Numbers of image numbers. Pictures every 10s. In addition to the 23 ° parhelia and 22 ° ring, I visually separated the sweaty 18 ° parhelia and ring at the best stage. 23p is relatively sharp, but the pyra solar arc is not visible. This is the last time the ukra arch has been seen in the world. The form is emerging as a hard class rarity. - - - - - - Edit 12.7 at 1623. I added a 23 ° ring, because in the latter step (Figures 3-4) the main ring goes to the 23 ° parhelia, unlike the previous one (1-2) w...

Strange display this too. The sections at 1030 and 1330 outside the 22 ° ring appear to be clearly 24 ° lateral, but at 9 ° they are not lateral, except for perhaps no weighting on the sides, which does not look like what you would expect from those 24 ° side, as done with HaloRay simu shows (sun height injected at an estimated 40 degrees). So this play is also a mystique essay (I don't really like to invoice a triangular endeavor). It would have been worthwhile to continue filming, even if the play changed from a side-weighting to a 22 ° ring-weighting. Pyraa may well have been available ...

Aim for a couple of days. Below is the stack amount first, then the time. Pictures every 10s. Should have taken a closer look here, the cloud moved so fast that there became a strong herringbone structure. 1. 50 1115-1123 (partial stack of the best 23 ° p phase) 2-4. 282 1115-1203 5-6. 82 1021-1034 7. A single lightly believed image of the best 23 ° p step 1123 8. A big hairy creature that enjoyed the camera tripod and just didn’t care about me. Tried to grab a horse mare around me. Paarma then landed on my hand with the other wing on her wig (and got slapped). After a while, this sympathetic ...

With Martikainen's noise, I left to shoot in the harvest open. Here are the stacks from two different stages. The first 136 squares from 1804 to 1827. Another 129 squares from 1827 to 1848. The first had a clear play visually. 22 ring quite sharp, not pyramidal. But in the stack clear 9 and 24 lower. In the second stage, the clear display of the first stage gave way and a hazy cloud came on top of which somehow a vague 22 rings were visible in addition to the side suns (I watched with a mirror). There may be more to the point here, at least now 9 rings are clear and 24 rings are likely to ...

Surprising 24 ° ring stack. I didn’t want to believe the whole result at first, so the stacks, the original images from the card, went to the trash right away. Then at night one started digging and in the morning data was recovered from the memory card. Well, the fire did the job twice and the same result, so some sort of assurance too. There is no cursor error in the maximum stack that could push 22 rings out. It is almost a must to believe in a 24 ° ring. After all, it is not miraculous in itself, but when otherwise there is no pyramidal play. The 9 ° ring may be in the br picture, but when ...

Upper convex parries are not a matter of course. When the sunset in the evening was just a good 22 ° uphill, I took the stack with the idea of repeating a predatory Parry predation I had made earlier in the winter. But did not come to Stack Parry. Here are 43 squares every 10s. The time was not the time of observation, I threw the pictures already to go and only this stack was left. The sun was very low, a few degrees. - - - - - - - - - Added another stack (Figures 2 and 3) with 215 images at 2113-2149, at an altitude of 4.0-1.3 °. The 205 images I gave in the comment were incorrect. Added ano...

Because yesterday was such a big halo day, the nationwide image is complemented by an observation from Rovaniemi as well. Such was seen before it clouded. Occasionally then the clouds as a bit of a tattered equally sloping view might be on offer.

From four up and to Jyrhämäjärvi. Crystal images first, then halopino when the sun rose. No strange 22 ° ring. I'll take over the 900 stack. Then when I find that the middle stuff is better, I take a new 900 stack on top of it. And after that, the crystal images are also from the middle. The 22 ° ring was spotted in this latter place, it had brightness at the gentle wind accumulations. So from one such point I took these other crystal samples. The first stack did not become a pyre, the second became, in addition to the 24 ° ring, also appeared to be a 23 ° ring, unless there is then a 22 °...

A few days ago, a stump of a surface halo in Jyrhämäjärvi. Frost on the car gauge -8 C as I curved into the parking lot by the lake. Didn't look very pyramid-like. 1. Because of the effect, I changed the putty lens and took a more limited view for the max stack. 21 pictures in the stack, maybe it would have been worth halving yet, but this one goes. Hi-fi link. That is, I inoculated that picture of the sky + forest where I had put Blokker aside. 2. An average stack of 268 squares. 3. br samasta Something like a 24 ° ring in Figures 3 and 2 on the left, but don’t know about that. A few pyra...

"Today the elliptical seemingly continues. The weather is similar to yesterday, the sun is shining through the fog and it is snowing slowly. Interesting that I got this ellipse to look properly only in the mirror. The background glow is quite, there should be two sunglasses." https://www.ursa.fi/ursa/viestinta/listat/halo-l/0965.html - - - - - - - - The time of observation is unknown. (4.9.2021)
