Telescopic comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko

5.12.2021 at 04.20 - 04.45 - Fregenal de la Sierra, Espanja (III)
Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

From here, a handsome comet (which was overshadowed by Leonardo) secretly developed. The tail is already in the order of a degree. And the Larson-Sekanina filter reveals more details. 2 'real' comets in the December sky, which is better.

Binocular comet Leonard

3.12.2021 at 06.03 - 08.20 - Fregenal de la Sierra, Espanja (III)
Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

Comet Leonard swept the spherical constellation M3 from the morning so I programmed a Spanish tube to describe it. Describing such a combination poses certain challenges for processing. Here are at least a couple of versions of the topic at first. Image 1 3 x 45s RGB image Image 2 90 x 45s RGB image with median stack of faded stars (except M3 still waving in the background) 3. Stack of green channel treated with Larson-Sekanina filter. 4. Animation (it is hoped that it will be displayed properly ...) The brightness of the comet is mag 7 (green channel) and the length of the tail is of the orde...

Telescopic comet Leonard

24.11.2021 at 06.20 - 08.05 - Fregenal de la Sierra, Espanja (I)
Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

An interesting encounter was known in the morning when the brightest comet of the moment visited the galaxies passing by the nickname Whale and Hockey Stick. The Spanish sky looked a little uncertain but luckily it was so clear so I was able to take up to an hour and a half of the comet still brightening. This time I put a tripod to follow the comet. There was some to do with the reading that got the comet and the stars and the others ‘drunk’. Edi: I took a closer look at the comet image and decided to try the Larson-Sekanina filter for image processing. So I came up with a couple of shower ty...

Telescopic comet Leonard

23.11.2021 at 07.22 - 08.15 - Fregenal de la Sierra, Espanja (I)
Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

The comet hasn't changed much since the last one. Now, however, the moon was disturbing the sky.

Telescopic comet Leonard

12.11.2021 at 07.20 - 08.15 - Fregenal de la Sierra, Espanja (III)
Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

After the adversity, I was able to photograph the brightest comet of the moment with a Spanish telescope. From the core would appear to leave interesting showers that appear in the image treated with Larson-Sekan as a filter. The comet should brighten to the naked eye in December.

Telescopic comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko

11.11.2021 at 03.05 - 04.23 - Tampere (II)
Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

I happened to wake up at night and when it seemed clear I described the comet for an hour. Could have used a slightly shorter exposure or tracked by comet, now the core of the comet became a little oval. The reddish color was a little more special with this comet.

Telescopic comet ATLAS

10.11.2021 at 07.05 - Fregenal de la Sierra, Espanja (II)
Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

The third brightest comet at the moment. At the very bottom are the galaxies NGC 2445 and NGC 2444.

Telescopic comet Schwassmann-Wachmann

28.10.2021 at 03.43 - 06.08 - Fregenal de la Sierra, Espanja (I)
Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

This comet already had its fourth consecutive eruption (the brightest so far) on Wednesday and the next night I was able to photograph it on a Spanish telescope. Unfortunately, the shooting series had an error in the green channel image series (wrong binning) so I had to gimmick with the colors. But a fairly wide sphere has again formed around the comet. A really special destination. Learn more about comets here and here .

221 Eos

19.10.2021 at 00.15 - 04.19 - Tampere (II)
Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

At the end of the adjustment night, I decided to shoot something but almost the full moon limited the range of subjects. However, I decided to check the GAIA-Gosa candidates and there was a wish for asteroid 221 Eos measurements. The initial spin time for the asteroid is 10.4 hours so I only got less than half of the lap. I also made a brightness curve from the measurements.

Telescopic comet Schwassmann-Wachmann

6.10.2021 at 02.20 - Fregenal de la Sierra, Espanja (I)
Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

I also photographed a comet brightened by a burst on a Spanish telescope. I will take brightness measurements for a longer period of time later. Brightness measurement with G-filter.

M42

3.10.2021 at 04.00 - 04.50 - Tampere (IV)
Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

The adjustments took so long that I decided to photograph Orion's jewel at the end of the evening. For processing, I also decided to use the new (and still evolving) StarXtermintator tool to get annoying (?) Stars out of the image. The second picture shows the 'normal' version.

Jupiter

26.9.2021 at 23.02 - Tampere (III)
Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

I got an ADC for the experiment and yes it makes a significant improvement with the low targets.

Variable star DO Dra

24.9.2021 at 23.43 - Fregenal de la Sierra, Espanja (II)
Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

Again, at the request of AAVSO, I photographed this changing star. Figure 1. View of the ASTAP program with magnitude measurements. Figure 2. Variable search map from AAVSO's service. Brightness 15.58, described by G filter. I can't put more information now.

Sun

19.9.2021 at 10.36 - Tampere (IV)
Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

There was quite a spectacular collection of protuberances in the sun. I sacrificed a little more work and experiment in the image and even added the scale of the Earth to give. Edit: short rugged animation

Jupiter

14.9.2021 at 23.15 - 23.33 - Tampere (III)
Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

Jupiter apparently collided with an asteroid of about 100 meters on September 13th. So I got a good reason to describe Jupiter in hopes of traces. Well nothing ‘extra’ appears but I did a little animation for about 20 minutes. The rainbow moon on the left is Io.

Supernova 2021rhu

4.9.2021 at 01.14 - Tampere (II)
Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

I tested the equipment and also the new shooting software (NINA). At the end of the testing, I decided to test the sequence and selected a familiar galaxy as the target. A small palpitation was caused when an 'extra' star appeared in the galaxy. Well a quick check found out that this supernova has already been spotted in July. I also made measurements with different filters: R 13.25 G 13.88 B 14.32

Aurigidi

1.9.2021 at 00.29 - Tampere (III)
Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

Sunbathing maximum night so timelapse camera on the south balcony. One grabbed but I'm not sure if aurigidi. Adjacent to Saturn so bright in its class. Video

NGC 7822, SH2-171, Ced 214

31.8.2021 at 03.00 - Fregenal de la Sierra, Espanja
Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

This was the first targets on the Spanish telescope 3 years ago. There are interesting fog objects around the object so I decided to try the mosaic again. And again, I stated that it is not easy. I can't say how many different times I tried with different tricks to get a cool end result but not - always the seams grimace in the end result. So in the end I decided that this would then only become a 1x2 mosaic instead of the original 2x2 mosaic. Maybe I'll gather courage again in a couple of years and try again ... Edit: I added a starless version with the new StarXTerminator

Sun

28.8.2021 at 10.45 - Tampere (III)
Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

According to Gong, there seemed to be an eruption in the sun today. I took a video clip and an hour of timelaps but nothing dramatic happened to timelaps. In this stacked image, yes, that black tab could be the remnants of an eruption.

A small aperture in the cloud allowed video to be taken. Unfortunately, the clouds of the cloud made the video very uneven. As many as 11 squares are stacked in this picture.
