Half-sky auroras

12.10.2021 at 22.00 - 01.15 - Pelkosenniemi ja Savukoski (IV)
Anu Tossavainen

Encouraged by forecasts (both weather and Northern Lights), the car trip to a clear area rewarded with a myriad of images. Shapes and colors changed almost all the time. Pictures 1-3 Suvanto, Pelkosenniemi and pictures 4-5 Savukoski approx. 00.45-01.15.

Active aurora band

20.2.2021 at 00.10 - 00.45 - Savukoski (III)

After a quiet and cloudy season, the night before Saturday loaded the sky from full screen. I was already under cover when I checked the alarms. A quick peek out of the sauna window and an immediate roll of clothes began. The calm Arc of the Northern Lights in the south gave hints that there could be stunning displays in the permits. The last similar thing happened in March 2015, when kp values tapped 9. Nothing but a light march towards the shore and a gaze towards the southern horizon. The northern lights also marked the north, but I kept my gaze and camera facing the peaceful arc of the sou...

Kuun kehä

24.12.2020 at 15.50 - 15.55 - Savukoski (II)
Anu Tossavainen

A traditional visit to the tomb and suddenly we noticed the moon appeared. A wonderful variation on the cloudiness that lasted throughout the early winter. As I walked into the car I was forced to dig my cell phone out of my pocket so much fun the moon overturned the halo around it and Mars with it.

Fogbow

21.10.2020 at 11.50 - 12.10 - Pelkosenniemi (III)
Anu Tossavainen

I have to say that a lucky workshop emptied of fire at once, when you first drive the car keys on the windshield for more than 30 km and when you stop to take them from the outside and at the same time level your mind, a beautiful fog arc appears on the adjacent lake. I’ve never been able to see the fog curve live, so it smoothed the mood considerably. ????

Several halo forms

From a business trip to a car and a glance at the sky. Sisso, what a great halo. The side suns flashed for a moment, but did not stick to the images.

Half-sky auroras

25.9.2020 at 22.50 - 23.45 - Savukoski (IV)
Anu Tossavainen

The forecasts are good, both northern lights and weather forecasts. So I decided to look for a new location. After just over an hour of driving, I found myself in old familiar places. In our village, the street lights go out at 11pm, so I decided to check out a couple of miles away in a darker situation. Surprisingly, an arc of northern lights strengthened in the sky, with a slightly reddish echo on the west side. With a couple of jumps, I jumped into the swamp, the camera ready and the wire shutter to press. The focus was then left unadjusted as I focused on capturing the phenomenon. SAR or t...

One halo form

12.6.2020 at 11.30 - 11.50 - Savukoski (I)
Anu Tossavainen

Hopusti had to get to the market and from there to work. Fast pounding out of the car and desperate screening on a cell phone. After all, that halo didn't fit the picture completely and the hands weren't enough. There was enough shadow from the corner of the house that at least half of the halo caught the picture.

Active aurora band

20.3.2020 at 21.30 - 22.40 - Savukoski (III)
Anu Tossavainen

Throughout the winter, they have been waiting to be photographed themselves. The peaceful home evening ended with a message from the youth at the door: "There's a mother in the northern lights." The boys of VPK would have been proud of the speed with which I got myself out and to the set. Beautiful, they were like which. The moment when the northern lights revolved around Venus made the description especially wonderful.

Active aurora band

6.2.2020 at 22.10 - 22.30 - Savukoski (III)
Anu Tossavainen

Letting the dog out spun back inside to gaze at the camera. The shower was fresh enough to shoot in the middle of the artificial lights, i.e. two steps from the stairs and a shot. The most spectacular performance of winter, so fast and pink northern lights I have never seen. Some passed by as the camera admired. The moon created its own mood in the pictures and even a few starbursts became spotted.

Pearl clouds

5.1.2020 at 15.30 - 16.00 - Martti, Savukoski (III)
Anu Tossavainen

In the snow work at the cottage and the front of the car turned towards the home, the skyline began to shine promisingly. I didn’t really think it could be pearl clouds, filling the whole sky? Near the horizon a dark cloud (?) Shore, but above it a shimmering zone. There was so much rushing home that I didn’t have time to stop and shoot the car. Therefore, the pictures of cell phone quality and fast-paced.

Hämäränsäteet

22.7.2019 at 23.45 - 00.15 - Posio, Riisitunturi (III)
Anu Tossavainen

We went to watch the sunset at Riisitunturi. After the sun disappeared behind the horizon, we decided to walk to watch the moon rise. As we walked from the ceiling, a glance behind us caused a stop and a squeaking of eyes. Could it be possible that something would resonate from the direction of the sunset. There were cameras included, but with the wrong kind of lenses, so there was contentment with the cell phone camera.

Light pillars

22.2.2018 at 21.00 - 22.00 - Savukoski (II)
Anu Tossavainen

The repo photo tour stopped to photograph the artificial light pillars formed over the village. And yes, those repos were also found in the picture.

Several halo forms

5.2.2018 at 11.56 - Savukoski (II)
Anu Tossavainen

On the way to the post office, I had to stop to watch the halo form. Attention was drawn to the phenomenon above the sun, the form of which I am not sure. Picking up the camera from home turned out to be a mistake. The halo had faded from view.
