NGC 6905

21.8.2021 at 02.53 - Orimattila, Artjärvi, Tähtikallio (III)
Toni Veikkolainen, Juha Blad, Tomi Taskinen, Veikko Mäkelä, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair

This object of small diameter but large surface brightness was the last planetary nebula on the night of observation. The subject came out nicely even though the sky was very light.

NGC 7008

21.8.2021 at 00.59 - Orimattila, Artjärvi, Tähtikallio (III)
Toni Veikkolainen, Juha Blad, Tomi Taskinen, Veikko Mäkelä, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair

The object, called fetal mist, deserves to be later photographed in color and stands out from the very typical planetary nebulae seen as a ring.

NGC 7048

21.8.2021 at 00.33 - Orimattila, Artjärvi, Tähtikallio (III)
Toni Veikkolainen, Juha Blad, Tomi Taskinen, Veikko Mäkelä, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair

There was a lot of filming of the planetary nebulae of the Swan constellation on the program weekend. This mist, north of the North American Nebula, is a fairly evenly spaced disc.

NGC 6894

21.8.2021 at 00.06 - Orimattila, Artjärvi, Tähtikallio (IV)
Toni Veikkolainen, Juha Blad, Tomi Taskinen, Veikko Mäkelä, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair

This planetary nebula is located in a rich star field on the side of Swan’s much more famous sites. The center star came out easily. A non-target star on the perimeter also attracted attention.

Supernova 2021rhu

SN 2021 Rhu Pegasus in the supernova galaxy NGC7814 (little sombrero) was filmed on the first night of the August 2021 extra work. Toni and Veikko described Kari as a measurement sensor. The supernova was discovered by the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) exploration program on Palomar’s Samuel Oschin 48-inch Schmidt telescope on July 1, 2021. The ZTF tracks all changes in the starry sky, supernovae, comets, asteroids, etc. Source ZTF https://www.ztf.caltech.ed The measurement was complicated by the halo in the center of the galaxy, which had to be dimmed considerably in order for the object to...

NGC 6664

20.8.2021 at 23.27 - Orimattila, Artjärvi, Tähtikallio (III)
Toni Veikkolainen, Juha Blad, Tomi Taskinen, Veikko Mäkelä, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair

In the extra-strong reinforcements of Tähtikallio, which were held for almost a full moon, the lunar phase was described, taking into account ten mainly easy DS objects and three asteroids. The shield constellation open set NGC 6664 was the first of these DS targets. The subject is not very focused or eye-catching.

NGC 6712

20.8.2021 at 23.19 - Orimattila, Artjärvi, Tähtikallio (III)
Toni Veikkolainen, Juha Blad, Tomi Taskinen, Veikko Mäkelä, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair

In this spherical set, two distinct brightnesses and a bifurcated dark corridor stand out. The target is pretty much overshadowed by the M11 and is surprisingly similar.

Variable star Nova RS Oph

20.8.2021 at 23.14 - Orimattila, Artjärvi, Tähtikallio (III)
Toni Veikkolainen, Juha Blad, Tomi Taskinen, Veikko Mäkelä, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair

I had to photograph this nova too. The subject had brightened to about five magnitudes, although no accurate brightness measurement was obtained despite the attempt. To the naked eye, of course, there was no visible change in the constellation.

The shooting night accommodated another DS object in addition to the open constellation NGC 6709 , and the constellation was the same. This time it was an annoyingly neglected planetary nebula. One edge of the object turned out to be much dimmer than the others. The color scheme was reminiscent of Lyyra's tire mist.

Toni Veikkolainen, Juha Blad, Christos Oscar Kambiselis, Kari Laihia, Rauno Paivinen, Veikko Mäkelä, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair

I rarely come to photograph open constellations on Alluna, but by the beginning of the DS observation period, such an object was perfect. The subject appeared plentiful and reasonably well distinguished from the background. Stephen O'Meara had imagined a fable flying in the destination, whose name should not be mentioned here.
