Sun

20.8.2021 at 19.30 - 20.30 - Espoo (III)
Eemil Pietilä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

I was on the Souka heap trying a new solar filter for my telescope. It is therefore a darkening solar filter membrane. The setting sun captured the camera in a nice color.

Sun

19.9.2021 at 14.30 - 15.00 - Järvenpää (III)
Eemil Pietilä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

Although there has been cloudy weather now, at least here in southern Finland, it became clear today for about an hour. So I decided to try the new full Spectrum modulated Canon EOS 1200D to capture the sun. The results were satisfactory, as the focus seemed to be a bit wrong, but the pictures were still ok. At the bottom left, you can see the dim sunspot group 2871.

Eemil Pietilä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

Over the weekend I was at a scout camp in the Evo camping area. And when I'm such a shooting enthusiast, I had to take the camera stuff with me, even though they brought a couple of extra pounds to the weight of the backpack. Luckily I took them with me as there was a spectacular moonlight in the sky through the weekend. Then, alone, after the others went to sleep, I raped pictures of the night sky.

9.12.2020 at 22.00 - 22.45 - Järvenpää (II)
Eemil Pietilä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

As the weather became clearer, I took the camera for an evening walk and set out to see if it could even get some kind of pictures of the starry sky, even though I am here in the Urban Area. 90 images with a shutter speed of 25 seconds have been stacked on top of each other in the finished image +10 ns. noise image. After stacking, I adjusted the colors in the image to minimize the yellow hue of light pollution.

Eemil Pietilä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

Photography of Easter in Järvenpää's old village. The evening seemed to be getting clearer, so I decided to go for a bite late at night. It was a good decision, because the starry sky served its best in urban conditions. The only light in the sky was the lights of Tuusula reflected from the opposite shore to the sky. I guess one of the star planes can be seen in it, but the camera pointed to the wrong sunt at that moment.

Starry sky image

13.10.2021 at 22.00 - 00.00 - Järvenpää (III)
Eemil Pietilä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

The constellation of Swan and the Sadr region there, as well as the fog of North America, photographed with about 2 hours of exposure in the middle of the city. The purpose was to test a 50 mm lens found in stock for star photography. It seemed to work relatively well. The details now didn’t come out so closely, but the overall picture is pretty jees. At the same time, a self-made heater also became tested to work. And, of course, I didn’t notice taking a picture of that tuning.

Starry sky image

10.1.2022 at 21.00 - 23.00 - Järvenpää (III)
Eemil Pietilä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

The intention was to photograph the constellation of Orion from the front for 4 hours, but due to the cold frost of about 20 degrees, the batteries froze faster than I expected. The end result was 2 hours of data. Well luckily I shot in a narrowband so I got to see a little more detail. The intention would be to describe a little more narrowband and then RGB. These could then be made into a nice combination.

Saturn

16.7.2021 at 00.30 - 01.30 - Järvenpää (II)
Eemil Pietilä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

I filmed Saturn for video at night. In the first image, a single frame modified. The second image, on the other hand, is unedited. Surprisingly well, the tires were visible with a 400 mm telescope. The only challenge in filming was the movement of Saturn out of sight. I think I need one more counterweight tracker.

Saturn

28.8.2021 at 23.30 - 00.00 - Järvenpää (III)
Eemil Pietilä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

Saturn photographed on the evening of August 28, 2021. I stacked about 4500 of the best frames here with a software called PIPP, after which I put the pictures in Autostakker. After that, I was still editing the image in Photoshop. I mainly adjusted the exposure and sharpened. Finally, I removed the hail with the new Action Pack I bought. After all, this is a significant improvement over the picture I took earlier in July. Link to the observation below. https://www.taivaanvahti.fi/observations/show/99643

Perseids

13.8.2021 at 00.00 - 03.00 - Järvenpää (III)
Eemil Pietilä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

Asses have been collected for about 3 hours. Or at least that should be the case. I couldn’t go through all 300 images at night when I was editing, meaning a few frames may have been skipped. The image appears to have three star flights and a satellite brightness at the top left. Update to observation: Two new asses were found in the pictures. At the bottom are two dim asses and maybe a third star flight. I’m not sure if it’s a starburst or a satellite. I want to believe it would be a star flight as it only appeared in one screen, but I suspect it is a satellite. New image at the bottom.

Partial solar eclipse

10.6.2021 at 14.06 - 14.08 - Espoo (IV)
Eemil Pietilä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

The do-it-yourself inscription didn't quite get into this blackout, so I decided to use a phone and a welding glass to help me shoot. I edited the images back to orange on the machine, as the welding glass makes the shade greener. Finally, I stacked 10 images to get rid of the biggest grain and inaccuracy.

One halo form

14.4.2021 at 17.40 - Järvenpää (I)
Eemil Pietilä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

I quickly grabbed a picture of the side sun I saw with my cell phone camera.

NGC 6992

27.9.2021 at 00.30 - 03.00 - Kokemäki (III)
Eemil Pietilä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

At the cottage away from light pollution, it is good to try the new modified EOS 1200D. Only the light of the moon disturbed me a little, but yes there was still something in the pictures. Here is the Eastern Gauze Fog with a total exposure of 2h30min. I took 30 second exposures that I stacked with a Sequator. I also tried the new Photoshop action Pack, which dims and reduces the stars. I made the finishes in Lightroom.

NGC 6888

6.11.2021 at 23.00 - 00.00 - Järvenpää (III)
Eemil Pietilä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

The intention was to photograph the sickle fog, but filming was suddenly interrupted by an increase in cloud cover. Later in the night it became clear again, but that’s when I changed destinations.

NGC 1976

14.1.2021 at 19.30 - 21.00 - Järvenpää (III)
Eemil Pietilä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

Even though it was almost -25 degrees below zero, I still decided to go photograph Orion's nebula. And good so, because I think the end result was quite good. Thus, about 200 images with a shutter speed of 5 seconds have been stacked here, and the brightness and colors have been slightly adjusted.

NGC 1499

1.1.2022 at 21.30 - 23.00 - Järvenpää (IV)
Eemil Pietilä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

The evening looked clear, so I decided to try the new Optolong L-eNhance multi-narrowband filter. The California fog seemed to be an easy destination to start with due to its relatively easy discoverability. Even though there is only about an hour and a half of exposure here, of which about 5 minutes is RGB, I got surprisingly good detail. Actually, the efficiency of the whole filter surprised me. I got more detail in the middle of town on a bortle scale in maybe 7 or 8 and a half hours than I did before shooting this subject in RGB in three hours. Unfortunately, that RGB data last time suffer...

Moon

26.9.2020 at 22.30 - Järvenpää (IV)
Eemil Pietilä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

After all, it was now a must to test a new 300mm zoom lens.

Moon

2.10.2020 at 23.30 - Hämeenlinna (V)
Eemil Pietilä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

Almost a full moon photographed last weekend. A small cloud of gauze covered the moon, but it was not visible in the picture and did not interfere with the shooting.

Moon

23.3.2021 at 18.00 - 18.20 - Järvenpää (III)
Eemil Pietilä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

The moon photographed about half an hour before sunset. I stacked 10 pictures with 1/40 exposure. The first image is a modified version and the second is the so-called base image, on which I stacked the other nine images.
