The shooting season opened in the Andromeda Galaxy (M31), the conditions are foggy and humid as you would expect in Finland in the autumn. However, the object now high in the sky reasonably grabbed the cell of the wise. The light accumulated in 32 x 300s cycles for just over two and a half hours.

In the photo, the Rosette Nebula, the moonlight disturbed the early evening, but the shots from the late night, before the subject sank into the horizon, were reasonably successful. Exposure accumulated in modest 2.3 hours in 7-minute increments.

In the picture, Butterfly Nebula / Gamma Cygni Nebula IC 1318. In the middle of the picture, the Sadr star shines bright. Light accumulated in the image for 3.1 hours. Which was well below my 5 hour target. Apparently a narrow cloud area moving past messed up the tracking and the rest of the night squares were unusable.

The picture shows an area of the Swan constellation, where the Star Nebulae form a flame-like impression. At the bottom of the image you can find NGC 6914 glowing in blue, and Simeis 57 forming the S-pattern. The total exposure was 3.7 hours

The second target for the fall was Cocoon Nebula and Barnard 168. In Figure B168, it looks like a starless path cleared by Case Nebula. A total of 5.5 hours of exposure from a couple of nights 13.-14.9.

The main picture is dominated by North American and pelican nebulae, which are also partly featured in the separate images. In addition, the image shows the NGC 6997 open constellation, as well as part of the IC 5068 emission nebula, at the very bottom left of the main image. The weather was autumn humid and a hint of fog. The picture shows a total of 3h exposures.

Iris Nebula, light collected one evening for about 5 h, 10 min at partial exposures. This is the last of my star shooting season. Let's get back to it in the fall.

As the Milky Way receded from the southern night sky, the M101 windmill gala was chosen as the target instead of the mists. The picture shows my first lights on the subject. 22 x 600s.

I photographed these objects already at the turn of the year. So poor quality (mainly due to clouds and poor transparency) was the raw material that it didn’t inspire me to start an image processing project before. The quality is at least partially replaced by the number of images, ie in the image about 7h, 10 min partial exposures. The image has been cropped briskly at the edges, as well as smoothed and patted in the absence of decent flat images. However, the end result was better than I had thought.

This time, the cell was caught by the Sickle Mist NGC 6888 from a swan constellation. I haven't photographed this subject before. Humidity 100% and the equipment drained water in the autumn way. Despite everything, there are successful 15-minute partial exposures in front of about 4 hours.

Addition to my previous IC1805 Heart Nebula observation. That is, SII narrowband exposure from the next night (Astronomik CCD-SII) was added to the image for 6 x 1200 seconds and combined B and G color channels. The end result in the Hubble palette.

Pictured IC 1805 Heart Nebula. Located at night time thus fall almost directly above. The location of the subject brought some additional challenges to the preparations for the shooting, such as aligning the image area and searching for a tracking star from an awkward position (camera screens almost directly toward the ground). In addition, it had to be ensured that the tripod did not "drive" the camera into the tripod structures later at night.

In the picture e.g. The Swan Nebula NGC 6992 and NGC 6960 are located in the constellation of Joutsenen. The dark time was only three hours, but on the other hand there was no need to adjust the equipment to the shooting condition. Full resolution image of AstroBin

Pictured is a reflection fog Iris Nebula (NGC 7023). Exposure was accumulated for 4.8 h 15 min with partial exposures. The goal was to get another 5 hours, but the northern lights, which were well visible in the south, messed up the plans for further exposure of the subject.

My first subject of the deep sky shooting season is M31. The weather was great for shooting, and not even fog got lost on the set all night.

On a couple of consecutive nights, I photographed a total of 8 hours of exposure to Bubble Nebula NGC 7635 and its vicinity. Also shown is the open constellation Messier 52, as well as the emission / reflection nebula NGC 7538.
