22.10.2022 at 19.50 - 20.05 - Orimattila, Artjärvi, Tähtikallio
Toni Veikkolainen, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair
In Tähtikallio's October talks, we had started photographing the small bodies of the solar system, but the aurora borealis arrived to mess up the patterns. The repos coverage was quite confusing this time. A belt stood out near the horizon, rays above it, and at most the gauze reached near the zenith. Finally, Cloudiness increased starting from the west and drowned out the play.

Spent about two hours at the clearing behind the house where I live and had a magical experience with the northern lights dancing from east to west. I apparently got to experience aurora dunes, I was told by Emma Bruus when she saw my picture. #edge Cool and magical evening!

The last night of riding the Utsjoki by myself this season. The northern lights were known and the whole day had been completely cloudy. As soon as it got dark, I started jumping outside to see if the clouds had disappeared. The Finnish Meteorological Institute promised a cloudless day from 21:00 onwards and that's how it went again. As if by magic, at 20:50 the clouds cleared. And what a show it was with the whole sky full of fire. Unbelievable, how at the time of the new moon in the middle of the desert you don't need a flashlight, but you can walk by the light of the northern lights...

Was done many pictures, i saw that auroras started appearing just over my head. It is something that i havent seen yet. Not very usual in Southern Estonia. Most beatiful aurora show i have ever seen.

An interesting play, unfortunately very cloudy after the beginning. recorded with an all-sky camera. Before 20:00 we (Veikko, Juha and Tuija) went to visually follow the repos in the north. Toni Veikkolainen filmed and reported himself. Kari was the first to notice the flares from the all-sky camera while photographing asteroids. At 18:56 The first storms to the north-east into the dim sky. 18:56-19:11: First wave. A greenish arch rises from the northeast, a reddish repo to the front at 7:04 p.m., also progresses to the southwest. At 19:08 the green passes the red, the red sharpens and branche...

A unique and once in a lifetime opportunity - northern lights in the southern sky with planet Jupiter in the background. Yesterday evening was quite a show, I have never seen northern lights on southern sky. Auroras where so strong. I added two pictures one with the southern view with planet Jupiter and a northern sky with regular auroras. Pictures were taken yesterday in the same location. Three for references.

22.10.2022 at 21.15 - 23.54 - Utsjoki, Karigasniemi
The evening started in a low mood, and I already felt like a fool waiting for something to happen, I really wondered where the so-called promised futures were hiding. Then the dark south started to get brighter, I stayed in the water, then it got brighter towards the east, I was already curious, finally the arc came over me, it lit up. It was like fireworks, or a huge flower opening its petals, always changing its brightness and color. Colors were visible, it would have been nice to watch that apparition, and forget all about aiming the camera etc. Now the lights were the most beautiful I'...

The aurora borealis began to blaze across the northern sky at ten o'clock, and even then the camera lens could see shades of red. After 10:30 p.m., a strong activation began and the aurora borealis was soon visible all over the sky. A strong red, active aurora belt rose from the northwest towards the southern sky at approx. 22:50. After that, the beautiful aurora corona could still be seen for some time. Great evening!

22.10.2022 at 22.20 - 00.00 - Muonio
On Sunday evening, sometime around ten, I noticed movement in the sky. I didn't go out and test it, if I could remember how this camera was used. I had a similar one on loan last winter and now I got my own. So that Lumix is going away if someone needs one. Last winter, I was already worried about it, even though it's a good camera, but it's not suitable for fast repos in Lapland. So there were colors everywhere in the sky and a bit of stiff movement. Red in a direction where I don't know that there are settlements. Is it a sar curve? I went up to Zenith many times during the h...

Again there was a pulsating 'symphony' from almost the entire sky.

I think the strongest aurora borealis had already been earlier in the evening, staying behind the clouds at that time. The thinnest clouds in the north could then be seen turning green. These pictures were taken when the clouds were receding, but the aurora borealis was already fading by then. Another picture was caught by a strange red arc, which was so dim that it could not be distinguished with the naked eye.

The cloudiness opened appropriately and the repose was already in the sky above the zenith. Quickly the camera to the yard and there was something in every direction. Figure 1 to the south. Figure 2 rays north. Figure 3 dunes west. Figure 4 spots. Figure 5 to the south. Figure 6 zenith Figure 7 west. Figure 8 Miekankoski to the east. Full Cloudiness filled the sky quickly, but I managed to capture a good composition.

Vesa Mukkala, Ursa (Pohjois-Suomi)
The northern lights started to appear around 23:50 and were visible in the south-east direction. Above the green glow was a wide red arc that stood out strongly in the photo. This arc was visible for the first 10 minutes. The northern lights came directly on from the south and were very active. There were great stamps, except maybe the guy in the last picture has his own opinion about the event ????

I noticed the arch after getting out of the car. The red color was not visible to the eyes, but the arc was otherwise well visible. After 10 minutes it started to evaporate slowly. #sarg

In the Porvoo archipelago, the eastern sky started to darken already after 19:00, we had to hurry to assemble the filming equipment, the first photo was taken with a mobile phone. The strong arc rose almost to the zenith and the rays could be seen from time to time. In the end, the play was covered in a carpet of clouds.
