I would not have thought that I would go alone to walk along the Väisälänmäki cultural and nature trail towards the lookout tower in the middle of the night. It had to be done when the gauges alarmed and had to get dark. It was time for a peak northern lights show. This is how that season began for me.

This has been long awaited. Nothing beats the combination of northern lights and autumn scenery.

Due to severe wind conditions in Kemi, the fireworks show had been canceled. Fortunately, there were other kinds of fires in the sky as well.

Kuopio city last night. There were many clouds and the best pieces were left behind the clouds, unseen. After that, it turned out a little, but there were no more enchanting northern lights on offer.

I was in Jyväskylä on a visit and that evening I had decided to go home to Kuopio when my friend and I talked about the possibility of seeing the northern lights in the coming night. According to the weather forecast, it could be cloudy and sometimes even clear. I decided to stay one more night and we went to Leivonmäki National Park together. It was a good decision because my friend and I watched the northern lights with our mouths wide open that night and even a rare SAR or proton arc appeared. I don't know what it's real name is but still I haven't seen it this clear before but ...

On a foggy day, I went to Puijo to shoot. When I looked out of the tower, there was nothing but a fog that was visible only to us, those who were interested and experienced. It would not be easy for others to spot because the whole sky was clear, the visibility was very poor divided by a dim arc. As the sun shone brighter, gloria was also visible. I have never shot both at the same time. I took pictures to process a panoramic image at home, but Lightroom and Photoshop refused to do so ("unable to merge").

I was taking a landscape constellation. I didn’t look towards the sky when shooting so I didn’t see the fireball.
