Other special clouds

9.8.2017 at 08.23 - 08.53 - Helsinki (IV)
Markku Sarimaa, Ursa (Helsinki)

A spectacular cloud of holes (or a careless flying saucer pilot had left proof to launch) that expired about ten minutes after I noticed it. Interval between the first and last image 30 min.

Primary rainbow

7.8.2016 at 19.15 - Espoo (III)
Markku Sarimaa, Ursa (Helsinki)

The almost cloudless sky had a very bright stretch of rainbow, in front of which a funny little cloud appeared. The atmosphere was like a Disney cartoon. The picture was taken from the window of a moving car with a cell phone camera and cropped from it.

Pääsateenkaari

12.7.2016 at 19.52 - Cornwall, St Ives, Iso-Britannia (III)
Markku Sarimaa, Ursa (Helsinki)

The deafness that suddenly started waved a very bright rainbow into the sky. However, the rain and the arc will fade away in a couple of minutes. In the panoramic view, the arch is no longer a faint hint.

Several halo forms

23.3.2016 at 08.45 - Helsinki (II)
Markku Sarimaa, Ursa (Helsinki)

Weather at coastal stations: Helsinki Gray Partly cloudy, visibility 40 km. This kind of predicts not only easy navigation but also halos. An almost colorless snippet of the overhanging arch, very subtle side suns, and the only imaginable 22 ° ring stood out in the thin upper cloud layer. I tried to look for a suitable shade when walking in front of the Sun at work, but getting side suns in the picture proved tricky towards the end. In the end, it didn’t bother because they also faded to almost invisible at the same time.

Several halo forms

9.9.2015 at 15.36 - Helsinki, Tähtitorninmäki (II)
Markku Sarimaa, Ursa (Helsinki)

A bright overhanging arch, a dim side sun and a piece of a weak horizon ring. In the picture, only the arch above it.

Venus

22.5.2015 at 14.30 - Helsinki, Tähtitorninmäki (I)
Markku Sarimaa, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

We tested a new model binocular stand on a crescent moon as a hawk-eyed colleague glared at Venus from the clear day sky with the naked eye. With the help of the moon, it was reasonably easy to find even for a tourist, even though the distance from the sickle was just over 10 degrees uphill to the right (in the afternoon). The gaze should hit just the right spot in the clear sky, but when it hits, Venus stands out clearly. It's worth trying!

Pääsateenkaari

20.8.2014 at 20.00 - Helsinki (II)
Markku Sarimaa, Ursa (Helsinki)

I don’t remember seeing a rainbow partially covered behind a cloud before.

Several halo forms

17.4.2014 at 09.07 - Helsinki, Tähtitorninmäki (II)
Markku Sarimaa, Ursa (Helsinki)

The cell phone ran out of battery while on a business trip, and before I got the camera in my hand at work, the halo play had faded quite a bit: the eye stood out with a 22 ° upward arc, the arc of a zenith environment and one side sun, on the left.

One halo form

20.8.2013 at 11.57 - Helsinki, Tähtitorninmäki (I)
Markku Sarimaa, Ursa (Helsinki)

An upward arch from the yard of the Helsinki Observatory photographed with a mobile camera.

Several halo forms

5.4.2013 at 12.05 - Helsinki, Tähtitorninmäki (II)
Markku Sarimaa, Ursa (Helsinki)

As I walked to lunch, the attention was first drawn to the side suns and I grabbed a picture with my cell phone camera.

Several halo forms

30.4.2012 at 11.21 - Helsinki, Ursan tähtitorni Kaivopuistossa (II)
Markku Sarimaa, Ursa (Helsinki)

In honor of the May Day Eve, a 22 ° ring was visible in the tower of Ursa and, in my opinion, a short section above. In the second image, the Sun is behind the surveillance camera mast next to the tower.

One halo form

6.12.2011 at 20.25 - Helsinki (I)
Markku Sarimaa, Ursa (Helsinki)

Jupiter about 5 degrees below the Moon and the Moon's 22-degree halo, or would it be a side arc, above the Moon. Maybe someone wiser can recognize?
