Primary rainbow

13.1.2022 at 14.58 - Tuusula (III)
Pekka Manninen

I sat at home digitizing old slides as I noticed the peculiar color of the sky. It took a while to realize it was a downpour in which the sun was shining. Although the cloud did not become water to the ground, it formed a beautiful rainbow on the other side.

Several halo forms

5.2.2021 at 16.40 - 18.00 - Padasjoki (II)
Pekka Manninen

On the car journey from Kuhmoinen to Tuusula on the west side, ice crystal clouds were visible for more than an hour, forming a variable side sun and a column of the sun. I didn't get a picture of the brightest point, but here are a couple of examples, the first from Padasjoki at 16.48 and the second from Lahti at 17.56.

Quiet aurora arc

Based on the predictions, I went to see if repos would show up. The beginning was faint, but soon a clear arc appeared on the horizon. I was already changing places when the gauze running through the top of the sky brightened and a clear Korona appeared there. When I changed places after that, the sky had time to go to the cloud.

I read the leaves in the yard while watching the clouds. A moment ago, an ordinary 22-degree ring appeared in the upper clouds accumulating in the sky, but then other arches appeared inside it that I had not seen before. Here are a couple of images with different light values. phenomenon.

Landscape image of a planet

16.3.2015 at 21.12 - Kuhmoinen (IV)
Pekka Manninen

When the evening was dark, I went by propeller to the ice of Päijänne to watch the sky darken. As the stars lit, reflections also emerged from the surface of the clear ice. The atmosphere was awesome as the evening froze and the ice banged almost constantly. - The "Venus Bridge" was best seen, but the portraits of Sirius and Rigel were also visible.

A fairly nice halo show was also seen in Tuusula from the time of the tube. Ps For some reason, Taivaannahti does not accept the format as an email address ABCDabcd@sci.fi, i.e. the first part without dots, like my home email?
