The bright evening of Independence Day brought Komakallio three graphs on the spot, the low-moving moon was visible between the trees just as long as I was able to focus the tube and take three video clips, the fourth attempt with a better demarcation from the northern third was already behind the tree. For some reason, every time I take a moon, it comes at the same stage and the image is easy to spot from the "Lunar X" terminator.

The astronomical darkness finally arrived at Komakallio, Kirketa's Comet Observatory. During the hardware check, I had time to photograph even a few test exposures of this spectacular, high-rise object. The iris mist is a reflective mist on the edge of a larger dark mist, illuminated by a bright star of +7 magnitude.

The galaxy cluster Abell-Corwin-Olowin 1185, and its most spectacular formation Arp 105, the Guitar Gala, the main parts from bottom to top: Ambartsumian node (dwarf galaxy generated by tidal forces), elliptical NGC3561B, spiral NGC3561A, and tidal tail longer than 350,000 light-years. The field also includes the beautiful, evolving galaxy NGC 3536, as well as non-background galaxies and Milky Way stars.

Walking south from above Orion, the varying brightness, at its brightest points left a rather long tail behind. The distance seen covered was about 30 degrees.

While waiting for the start of the star show, there was a moment to try to capture the deep sky from the darkening evening sky on a cell phone. From the arm, a cell phone toward the eyepiece and one of the five attempts produced an identifiable image.

Varying from bright artificial light pillars, nothing more miraculous appeared around the moon. The brightest ones have already evaporated when you change the date cake to a mobile phone.

The mosaic of the Andromeda Galaxy, its companions, and background galaxies. All 625 spherical sets of M31, the brightest LBV stars, a set of possible spherical sets of M31 (331), background galaxies, and a few other interesting details in M31 are known to be marked in the image. Edit: Added thumbnails with slightly more distinctive markings in a 3x2 piece, as well as a 1000x1000 pixel cropp in full size from the center.

At the end of the shooting night, there was an hour of dark left, so I thought about trying to see if it could get anything out of its core with a handsome tail. I process the luminance data of the core with two different parameter sets using a Larson-Sekanina filter, one emphasizing the jets and the other the shell-like structures. In addition, I tried the local contrast emphasis as a comparison to the raw data.

The upper clouds gave little hope for the halos, but despite the wait, no other halos stood out in the variable upper cloud. According to local ice anglers, there would have been at least side suns and 22 overheads earlier in the morning, but I didn’t see them myself. With image processing, a slight hint may stand out from the top, unless there is only a slightly thicker cloud.
