Christmas greetings from Vaasa! I wandered along Lentokäntätieti with a fillar, the plans for the day were to photograph a couple of pilots. The low sun was shining through a thin layer of fog, creating a very nice atmosphere. I decided to stop and have this rap. The Pohja barn was allowed to function as an additional element.

It was "the night of geomagnetic thunder" again. I went to the yard sometime around midnight when I saw from NOAA's Real time solar wind data that the Bz value had dropped and stayed around -8 for a long time. The first aurora borealis were pretty basic, but after one o'clock it started happening. A strong eruption of aurora borealis rose into the sky from the west, which later covered more than half of the sky. A handsome anvil cloud appeared eastward early this morning. The temperature was pleasant (compared to noon) +17 degrees humid. The summer morning feeling was really in place. The mist raft above ground level and the shadows cast by thunder clouds into the hazy air added to the atmosphere.

Last Sunday I managed to document (I assume) the so-called The “Green Flash” and its rarer cousin the “Blue Flash” as the sun sets behind the horizon.
