Observing the Perseids around Joutjärvi in Lahti a little before the maximum. It was already blowing nicely. The northern lights and illuminating night clouds brought their own addition. Even the bat had a bevel on the surface of the lake. Ps. The map on the observation report page threw an error message, which meant that the location could not be defined.

A momentary mudslide swept through Lahti, bringing the beautiful artificial light pillars to Orion's friend. Lucky timing for the evening walk. Temperature: -11

Twilight rays emitted by the casting vanes of flights CKK205 (Shanghai - Amsterdam) and KLM897 (Amsterdam - Seoul) above the Lahti horizon, with the sun 4-5 degrees below the horizon. Shooting direction west. Unfortunately, the view ends exactly to the north, I think the rays of twilight have reached far to the shadow of the earth in the northeast - east direction. Images larger.

Artificial light pillars and North America observed from the edge of the field. I meant the toes to freeze while taking an ex tempore shooting break, the temperature in Haimoo on the Hanko-Hyvinkää road according to the car's meter is -16.5c.

By bedtime, thunder had literally surprised the pants in the birds. Peti got to wait when the faint thunder from the outside was revealed to thunder. Compared to the season, the thunder front ran from the west side of Lahti over Hollola towards Vääksy. The eruption apparently took place somewhere in the direction of Eastern Häme south of Hartola. Three visible flashes were captured by the camera, in addition to just over twenty more vague flashes, followed by silent kalevant fires. So there was enough activity. --- Edit at 9:05 PM: Screenshot of Blitzortung's lightning radar removed from t...

As the asses bonga struck, the glow hit the eye in the low northeast horizon: illuminating night clouds! Compared to the time quite a pretty show, but challengingly noticeable: the height from the horizon is only 2-3 degrees. Even though it was already more than a day from the maximum of the asses, the night before Friday I had to leave for Myllysaari in Lahti to check if there were still some flights. The hazy sky ate the best blade, but yes there was still commendable activity while the bats were keeping track. Above the northeastern horizon, there were also pleasantly bright illuminating night clouds from the time, of which there was its own report. Less than fifty flights were caught in the photographs, and more than 30 in the video. Video of the observation session: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHWHphHmF9E ...

As the custom of the clouds receded in the north, not only Perseids but also illuminating night clouds were revealed from the sky.

The latter maximum night of the Perseids went heavily under the cloud cover until around half past three the north began to open. Due to the rapidly brightening sky, the observation session is balcony-oriented, with the cameras facing the sky instead of the landscape. The photos were captured by a few asses, the video by thirty: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c60CsAwPJrg As a curiosity, the main image (gif) flight was captured at 135mm. The dim glowing night clouds also found their way into the images.

Persian mood days (nights?) Before the maximum. With a sleeping pad on the shore of Lake Joutjärvi, the landscape is Ruola's row of apartment buildings and radio masts. Through the eyes, the flights were seen a few, more efficiently through the camera. The video recorded 17 flights in just over an hour, though not all asses. The most spectacular of the evening was at 2:59 a sporadic (or non-ass) fly slightly to the left of Kotka. The slow flight took several seconds, leaving "sparks" behind. Walked in the sky for maybe 30-40 degrees. Also reported from Vantaa. Unfortunately, it did not gri...

The comet C / 2020 F3 NEOWISE is now closest to the earth in its orbit, so there would be potential for pictures showing it ... if it just happened to be further south. This time the bright night clouds were exhausting from the sky, but luckily the clouds of the habit settled down. Nooo .. at least they look pretty nice in a timelapse. As the nights darkened, the comet looked dimmer in the binoculars than before. The glowing "galaxy" coma was no longer as extensive as it was last week.

Storm bonga with 10-20x deceleration. Image captured from video. More spectacular lightning strikes perhaps in the Kärpänenäki and jumping hill area, dimmer on the Tiirisma radio and TV mast. Video in better quality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ck4OjE8brVQ

C / 2020 F3 Neowise is probably the most handsome comet in the northern hemisphere in this millennium, but the timing is very unfortunate from a Finnish point of view. Barely filmed through the night clouds. Against a clear sky, I couldn’t spot a comet with my eyes, but can be recorded with the camera as long as it gets hit on the screen. Half an hour earlier, even sensory perception might be successful. The stars shown in the main image are between 6.9 and 8.8 in magnitude, which may give some indication of the brightness of the comet. It's clear. Single exposures. It would be stackable i...

Classically pretty northern victorious night clouds, partly with a touch of zenith. Looking for tighter boundaries on the telecom, you can find wildly detailed details in the clouds. 4.7. compared to the nights, the wave density is higher, probably due to a more oblique angle of view (closer to the horizon). Closer to the three, Comet C / 2020 F3 Neowise also managed to hit the box. At dusk it remains rather modest, but perhaps the natural pastel shades place a bit. Timelapse between 1.20 and 2.00. For a long time with a comet on Pulkkilanharju, and whether the interstellar IFN (Integrated Flux Nebula) also grabs surprisingly well from the sky. Comet C / 2019 Y4 (ATLAS) promises good night for lovers of the night sky, hopefully but will have time to brighten before spring takes the darkness with it. Image quite a battle with gradients, thanks to vague flats and low DS image processing skills. So the colors and shades are a bit of what hurts. Larger version behind the link .

For a long time, the weather and the six-month period hit their places enough with the flock of meteors. Although the short peak of the quadrantids was located in Finland during the bright period, it seemed to be lively a couple of hours in advance at dawn. On Pulkkilanharju, wondering from the starry sky, a few dozen flights were visible to the naked eye. Most of them were quite fast and dim, but could accommodate a couple even brighter than Venus , who left behind the old one. The longest-lasting vanes glowed in the pictures for more than four minutes. A few slower flights belonging to a cle...

When observing the persides, a few brighter flights belonging to a clearly different flock also grabbed the cell. Visually estimated flights could belong to alpha-capricornids (CAP) , although antihelion (ANT) and northern delta watercolors (NDA) are in the same direction. Pictures larger in this year's ass gallery. Sure, I’m not 100 sure about that flock of meteors, but with the brightness, I thought I’d put my own report on these.
