Active aurora band

16.4.2021 at 23.39 - 00.12 - Tampere, Terälahti (III)
Sirpa Pursiainen

As I watched the northern lights last spring, I noticed that there may be dunes between the bluish rays. These are shown in a few pictures. That night there was also a particularly pink among the northern lights, which was not a traditional fast-moving pink, but lingered in the sky, moving more slowly from west to east.

Half-sky auroras

19.3.2021 at 00.49 - Kolari, Ylläs (IV)

Special layered, slightly spiral northern lights. I had never seen anything like it before. The pattern remained in the sky for a while (had time to take several pictures)

All-sky aurora

22.10.2020 at 03.09 - 03.55 - Skibotn, Norja (IV)
Sirpa Pursiainen

Near Skibotn, towards the end of the night, special "static crowns" appeared in the sky, the bottom of which was pink. Apparently it was a kind of bigger Corona, which was not typically nimble for the corona but lazy and formed crowns separate from each other. Sadly, the clouds came to interfere with a better capture of the situation in the sky. This is an interesting hobby, because sometimes, in addition to pretty spectacular northern lights, you come across something special. Even before this, there had been spectacular but ordinary northern lights. Of course, the same evening earlier in the...

All-sky aurora

21.10.2020 at 23.00 - 04.00 - Oteren, Norja (V)
Sirpa Pursiainen

A peculiar phenomenon for himself, when the sky cover was crossed by a red and light line, the proximity of which to the ordinary green kept alive. Personally, I have never seen anything like it before. Otherwise, in the early evening, the northern lights stayed pretty low in the northern sky ... but later in the night there were spectacular dances. Would you like to know if this is now SAR or Steve or what?

All-sky aurora

19.10.2020 at 20.05 - 02.33 - Enontekiö (V)
Sirpa Pursiainen

The magnificent northern lights of the whole sky hit the Kilpisjärvi northern lights limit. The night was quite bright and with stunning northern lights. In addition to the beauty, there was comfortably a red color above the green color in the northern lights.

Aurora rays

28.9.2020 at 21.40 - 22.00 - Terälahti (II)
Sirpa Pursiainen

There was a Steve-type observation in the sky on September 28, 2020 from 0.11 to 13.13. In the evening of the same day, there were interesting westward rays in the sky from the early evening. I put these here, because at least a couple of observations of steve from the same evening have also been made. Now I can’t say for sure if Steve is in these pictures either.

Active aurora band

27.9.2020 at 22.24 - 03.03 - Tampere, Terälahti (III)
Sirpa Pursiainen

Gorgeous northern lights night. Before three, a special play began in which the northern lights appeared as fast waves from the bottom up. At the same time, the northern lights slowly increased the rays with each pulse. There was also a particularly high critical voice at this point (as if someone had scratched the bottom of a plate with a fork). It would be interesting to hear if anyone else heard this?

Quiet aurora arc

14.9.2020 at 00.55 - 00.55 - Tampere, Terälahti (II)
Sirpa Pursiainen

As the northern lights appeared in the sky, oblique faint "lines" rose diagonally across the northern lights. At first I thought they were clouds, but as I followed the situation I found that there are no clouds. These appeared in a few pictures. Ps. Apologies, first did not move the image at all and then the wrong image. So now finally the right picture.

All-sky aurora

8.10.2019 at 00.41 - 00.41 - Brøstadbotn, Norja (V)
Sirpa Pursiainen

One of the most peculiar northern lights was this Northern Lights, which had a clear vertical scatter that was very dark and stood out to the naked eye. Next to it was a pale squirrel. I was left wondering if this is now blue or black northern lights or what is it about?

All-sky aurora

7.10.2019 at 21.53 - 21.57 - Grovfjord, Norja (V)
Sirpa Pursiainen

One of the most amazing northern lights. It was only now that I transferred the images to the machine and while browsing the images on the camera screen I noticed that there seem to be dunes among the relatively bright northern lights. I put the view of the northern lights for the time when the rarer dunes were visible, otherwise the northern lights were visible for an hour on time, before and after the dunes. Just two weeks ago, I deleted pictures from tonight. Luckily I had uploaded one picture to Facebook that also had dunes .... one more time I have to go through all the memory cards to see if there is more.

Total lunar eclipse

28.7.2018 at 01.11 - 01.11 - Tampere, Terälahti (IV)
Sirpa Pursiainen

In addition to the eclipse of the moon, a particularly green hemisphere came into the picture, no matter what the reflection.

All-sky aurora

13.10.2017 at 19.30 - Mehamn, Norja
Sirpa Pursiainen

During the northern lights limit, it was cloudy in Utsjoki and we drove to Mehamni to shoot two cars. One of the most amazing northern lights. I now looked at the pictures through a few pictures of those dune-like stripes all the way down the horizon. Can they be dunes or something else?

A fireball in a twilight sky

12.8.2016 at 00.56 - Tampere (IV)
Sirpa Pursiainen

Many pictures were taken, a few Perseid flights took the camera after all. 12.8 saw 15 flights between 00-02.00. 13.8 flights appeared to be fewer and were not as intense as 12.8. Of course, the 13.8 clouds also hampered the quantification of observations.

Aurora rays

3.8.2016 at 01.15 - 02.15 - Tampere (II)
Sirpa Pursiainen

Northern lights (purple and green) were visible in the backyard in Tampere's Teisko, separated by the naked eye. The rays came out three times in the eye. Northern lights often appear at the same point. Later, a green moving northern lights were seen on the lower shore of the sky, which was also visible to the naked eye.
