Mika Kontiainen, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)
The comet Neowise has sunk lower and lower in the northern sky and the tail no longer stands out against a light background.

The August sky was at its best and the ever-changing illuminating night clouds glowed in the sky of Vesivehmaa Airport as the Sun reflected in the morning hours. Even after Venus finally ascended, all the planets appeared in the sky at the same time except Mercury in a magnificent arc.

The comet Neowise, which had become very spectacular in other parts of the world, just appeared on the camera screen with its dull tails, but drowned with bare eyes in the brightness of the northern sky. Locating the comet was also somewhat challenging due to the small fixed points.

Thanks to the quite excellent seeing, a lot of details stood out from the Moon and the magnification could easily be increased about 260 times. As usual, the area of the terminator looked particularly stunning at both low and high magnifications. The detailed pictures I took of the craters are still unstacked, but I have time to edit this single picture of the entire Moon.

A small tube and a large cell are clearly not the best combination for describing planets. Adequate magnification was achieved by stacking 2x and 3x Barlows on top of each other. The ISO sensitivity also had to be significantly increased. The red dot became quite clear.

I decided to test the functionality of the camera and a standard telephoto lens on a tracking stand. The combination worked great and the exposures of about two minutes from different subjects went quite well. Figure 1: Venus and the Pleiades Figure 2: Vega Figure 3: M13

Bright and very active northern lights appeared in the sky at about 11 p.m. Yes, you had to go see them then, when there is such a rare event here. Most of the sky was covered in stunning red-green northern lights. The evening was crowned by Korona, born in the vicinity of the zenith, who was very active for about 15 minutes.
