A fireball at night, as bright as a crescent moon

15.9.2023 at 02.29 - Varkaus (III)
Ville Puoskari, Warkauden Kassiopeia

Automatic detection again, especially the rest of the flight must have been quite clear.

A fireball at night, as bright as a crescent moon

8.9.2023 at 00.45 - Varkaus (III)
Ville Puoskari, Warkauden Kassiopeia

Automatic detection again, this seems to be the season's brightest wound. If only we could still get a really good murikka in the winter! :)

A fireball at night, as bright as a crescent moon

6.9.2023 at 23.44 - Varkaus (III)
Ville Puoskari, Warkauden Kassiopeia

A rather bright ball of fire remained in the wound of the automatic detection, and the eyewitness observation from Helsinki also appears to be the same clockwork.

A fireball at night, as bright as a crescent moon

18.8.2023 at 00.46 - Varkaus (III)
Ville Puoskari, Warkauden Kassiopeia

The automatic detection of my Allsky camera must have been really bright when it can be seen so clearly through the clouds.

Crepuscular rays

15.8.2023 at 03.30 - 03.45 - Siilinja?rvi (IV)
Ville Puoskari, Warkauden Kassiopeia

On the way home from the Perseid hunt, an exceptionally clear, long-lasting shadow caught my eye on the highway in the haze caused by the sunrise. Is this a twilight ray? The height of the sun at the time of the photo was -8.4 degrees (photographed at approx. 03.25), which is quite a lot in my opinion, but I can't categorize the phenomenon that well, so let the mods fix it.

A fireball at night, brighter than the venus

15.8.2023 at 01.15 - Varkaus (III)
Ville Puoskari, Warkauden Kassiopeia

My sky camera's automatic detection missed a rather bright Perseid last night.

A fireball at night, brighter than the venus

15.8.2023 at 01.09 - Varkaus (III)
Ville Puoskari, Warkauden Kassiopeia

Based on other observations, I found this fainter Perseid in the pictures, apparently it had been brighter elsewhere.

Binocular comet ZTF

21.1.2023 at 02.15 - Varkaus (III)
Ville Puoskari, Warkauden Kassiopeia

A quick shot of this rather bright comet from among the clouds. The weather was clear for only about 20 minutes.

A fireball at night, brighter than the venus

23.10.2022 at 21.39 - Varkaus (III)
Ville Puoskari, Warkauden Kassiopeia

A small ball of fire in the far northern horizon. Automatic detection from my observatory's sky camera.

A fireball at night, as bright as a crescent moon

11.10.2022 at 23.58 - Varkaus (III)
Ville Puoskari, Warkauden Kassiopeia

The automatic detection of my sky camera must have been quite bright, because the dim sky did not stand out at all in long exposures from the moonlit sky.

IC1318

27.8.2022 at 00.00 - Varkaus (V)
Ville Puoskari, Warkauden Kassiopeia

The deep sky shooting season is slowly starting, I started shooting this object from my remote observatory as soon as the sun dropped below -12 degrees on August 12th. In nine nights, I managed to capture a total of 17.5 hours of exposure with SHO and RGB filters.

Image of an exceptional thunder cloud

5.8.2022 at 16.50 - Vaala (V)
Ville Puoskari, Warkauden Kassiopeia

The storm surge trip around Oulujärvi paid off, because one of the most beautiful supercells I've ever seen was left behind. There were several funnels and the movement in the mesocyclone was really clear - sometimes more extensive and sometimes clearly tightening as a new funnel forms. There were two short-lived thrombi candidates, one was so far away that I couldn't confirm it, but a mesocyclone occurred very low. There is material about it in my Youtube video at 00.45 -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAjRBHIt8zY The second is probably the so-called a gustnado that swayed the trees...

Arcus cloud

23.7.2022 at 06.00 - 07.00 - Varkaus (V)
Ville Puoskari, Warkauden Kassiopeia

A humming shelf cloud moved incessantly in front of the mesoscale convective system that formed early in the morning. As soon as it passed behind the observation point, even the closest discharge channels began to be seen in abundance, with lightning strikes only hundreds of meters away. Great experience!

A fireball at night, as bright as a full moon

1.12.2021 at 17.06 - Kangaslampi (III)
Ville Puoskari, Warkauden Kassiopeia

My observatory allsky on the camera was just left with a wound of automatic detection. This will probably lead to further observations soon.

Diffuse glow

9.11.2021 at 00.59 - 01.28 - Varkaus (I)
Ville Puoskari, Warkauden Kassiopeia

I am not sure if this is a phenomenon related to northern lights, but I will now report it on this form. This special spot on the east - west axis was recorded in the sky camera of my observatory. The duration of the incident was half an hour - this is also recorded by the sky camera of the Härkämäki Observatory, which produces a black-and-white image about 10 meters away, so there can be no question of lens reflection. It would be interesting to know what causes this phenomenon, whether northern lights or not. The images are 60s exposures taken in succession. #sarg

Rocket-related clouds

28.9.2021 at 00.11 - 00.13 - Varkaus (II)
Ville Puoskari, Warkauden Kassiopeia

Rocket launch left in the cloud camera of the cloud castle. The first stage earlier in the evening was completely left behind the trees.

Rocket-related clouds

9.9.2021 at 23.05 - 23.12 - Varkaus (IV)
Ville Puoskari, Warkauden Kassiopeia

The rocket launch was nicely seen in the Pilvilinna sky camera. The images are 60s of exposures shot in succession.

A fireball at night, brigter than the venus

14.8.2021 at 02.11 - Varkaus (III)
Ville Puoskari, Warkauden Kassiopeia

Automatic detection of a cloud castle sky camera. Apparently a pretty bright ass.

Image of an exceptional thunder cloud

23.6.2021 at 18.30 - 23.00 - Varkaus (V)
Ville Puoskari, Warkauden Kassiopeia

Watching the Aatu violent air began in Varkaus, from where I soon moved northeast towards Liperi. Along the ysitie, I finally let the front cross, and then the journey home went on a slip in the middle of storm damage. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egFVrHuU4GE
