The comet seems to be moving quite fast on a dense star field. As a result, the stars have formed images with respect to the comet, stacking pearl bands rather than a solid line.
The comet’s tail appears to have widened compared to images taken in mid-December and also appears to have dimmed at its tip. The brightest part of the coma now looks rounder than before.
