Telescopic comet Schwassmann-Wachmann - 3.10.2021 at 22.10 - 3.10.2021 at 23.01 Hankasalmi, Murtoinen Observation number 101725

Visibility III / V

Harri Kiiskinen, Jyväskylän Sirius

Finally the weather was clear and I was able to detect a comet 29P superburst. My previous observation of this comet was 9/9/2021, when the brightness was 13.4 mag and now less than a month later on 3 October 2021 the brightness has risen to the level of 10.7 mag. The diameter of the head is currently just under an arc minute and is expected to increase and dim in the near future. Hopefully the weather will allow for regular observation of this interesting comet in the coming weeks.

Light curve: COBS.SI (own observations in blue, KIIaa). Brightness determined with KOPR program.
