Drygalski & Montes Leibnitz - 17.1.2022 at 21.15 - 17.1.2022 at 22.00 Vantaa, Pähkinärinne Observation number 103986

Visibility Unclassified

Paula Wirtanen, Ursa (Helsinki)

The south is great! There was nothing else to say yesterday at the telescope. It was only a few hours until the full moon, but still a terminator was visible on the Moon: the southern ligation was quite good, about -5 ° (that is, about the same as the temperature).

There was also a slight librarianisation to the west. Mare Orientale was hidden on the other side of the Moon, but Lacus Veris was right on the edge and so was the western edge of Oceanus Procellarum.

To the south on the edge was Montes Leibnitz (L96) and it was actually quite great to admire the Moon Mountains from the side for once. Similarly, Drygalski (L94) stood out reasonably well. The central mountains also stood out somewhat. Bailly was difficult to identify by the tube because of the direct light, but Bailly B stood out. Behind it, Hausen, on the other hand, stood out very clearly and that was my first attention.

Figure 1 is stacked from several images and taken through a 10 mm eyepiece (150x). Figure 2 is a single image through a 25 mm eyepiece (60x).

Figure 3 is a hand-drawn sketch of the area. "Spot" describes Tycho and its radius system, which I did not draw in more detail, however. Visually, on the edge itself, this crater peeking behind Le Gentil was like a hole in the edge of the Moon, which is otherwise uneven in that area. Drawing sketched south upwards.

Minäkin katselin Kuuta illalla ensin kiikareilla ja sitten myöhemmin aamuyöllä kuvasin sitä vielä pikaisesti syvän taivaan kohteen mentyä puiden taakse piiloon. Eteläreunan epätasaisuudet erottuivat tosiaan kivasti. Drygalskin ja Hausenin keskusvuoretkin näkyivät.
