NORAD 40391 - 9.2.2022 at 00.50 Tampere Observation number 104438

Visibility II / V

Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

I read that SpaceX’s Falcon rocket (or part of it) shipped in 2015 was crashing into the moon and it was hoped for sightings before the crash.

It was best seen in Finland last night and miraculously the sky became clear after midnight.

So I tuned in the hardware and shark coordinates . There was a lot of work to do as the object moved in about 15 arcseconds per minute.
So even in these 2-second exposures, the subject is already a small streak.
And as the satellite rotates, its brightness also varies quite a bit.

At the time of shooting, the subject was at a distance of about 50,000 km and its brightness was about mag 11.

(https://www.projectpluto.com/temp/correct.htm)
