Visibility IV / V
The Bz value of the magnetic field plunged into such a deep minus that the expectation was to see more stunning northern lights than usual. At half past nine, the clouds gave up, and there was already that familiar green breeze, but higher than usual in the sky. Active forms came and went, rays and spirals… The opaque gauze rose to zenith, and at 9.22 pm the zenith exploded! Very bright colors - green, purple and white, and the movement was intensely fast. This it was amazing to see! The lively belts were still moving in the sky for at least a good half hour. After midnight, the arc was activated again, but no more spectacular firing came. Pulsing fires stood out, especially at the eastern end of the arch. I watched the rest of the night with one eye as the other slept, but it was probably that worse eye because the dim arc was not visible!

Ylin kuva on kyllä hurjan tyylikäs! Hienosti sait kuvattua nämä revontulet pilvisyyden kiusatessa laajoilla alueilla.
Kiitos, Eero! Tällä kertaa tarkistin pilviennusteet moneen kertaan, ja sen lisäksi mutu-perusteiseen tilastollisuuteen nojaten uskoin Hankasalmella olevan selkeää, ja ainakin tällä kertaa osui täsmälleen nappiin! Tai no ei ihan, alkuilta oli pilvinen.
