Active aurora band - 10.2.2022 at 21.30 - 10.2.2022 at 22.10 Kouvola Observation number 105016

Visibility III / V

Tero Sipinen, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

I watched the development of the Northern Lights activity lazily from the other Finnish posts and at half past ten the posts started to look like I was right to peek out the window and see the green surprisingly bright and high (as seen from the south and the center of the urban lights). Lightning strikes the neck, the camera on the stump, and a couple of hundred feet away to shoot the first slightly more open place. I managed to see the raps after the best moment, here is an animation from 21.50-22.06.

Bands are usually narrower, more twisty at the bottom, brighter, and more active than arches. Bands usually develop from arches.

Bands can form J and U shapes, sometimes even full spirals. The corona can also arise from bands. Bands are a fairly common form of aurora.
