Airglow clearly visible - 27.1.2023 at 20.15 Vehmaa Observation number 111779

Visibility IV / V

Pirjo Koski, Porin Karhunvartijat

For a long time, I have wanted to go to Vehmaa to film. I don't know any other place or area there than the legendary Uhlu granite quarry. I asked the owner for a "green card" to enter the area, but this time the visit would be conducted in the dark.

The purpose of the evening was to photograph the Milky Way with pearls and spot a comet. All of them came true, but in addition we also got to see a pretty nice glow in the air.

Fortunately, the comet was captured in the early evening, namely the airglow pretty well lost the faintest stars and also the comet for a few hours. Unfortunately, in Uhlu, there was no longer a decent, unobstructed view to the north from the top of the pile of waste stones, so the repos and air glow became a bit like this "try to record the phenomena from the bush".

p.s. the place requires visiting permits :)

Ilmahehku on yötaivasta heikosti valaiseva himmeä valoilmiö, joka syntyy molekyylitason muutoksista ilmakehässä. Ilmiö näkyy tähtitaivasta vasten horisointissa heikona laajana vaalenemana, joka voi tarttua kamerakuvaan vihertävän sävyisenä.

Tunnistus Taivaanvahdissa on varattu epätavallisen hienolle ilmahehkulle, jossa erottuu selvästi rakenteita tai joka muutoin on tutkimuksen kannalta poikkeuksellisen mielenkiintoinen. Tavanomaisia ilmahehkukuvia ei kerätä Taivaanvahtiin, sillä ilmiö on varsin yleinen.
