Visibility IV / V
Nice comet! From the beginning of the evening I watched with 7x50 binoculars. The comet was easy to find and was visible as a clear oblong haze, although Pieksämäki's LED lighting annoyingly disturbs my observation spot in the northern sky. Next, I applied for a more robust Celestron 76mm f300mm Cometron, which is just the right game for this kind of comet bongaing. With that, the shape of the comet began to take shape, I couldn't make out the tail any worse.
At the beginning of the evening at 22:30 I took a few pictures with the modded Canon 1000D + 135mmF2. Either due to light pollution or the UV filter, I couldn't get an ion tail in the pictures at all. I found C/2022E3 spectrum measurements online, and in the blue at 388nm there is a strong CN emission (Cyanide?) which is cut out with a UV filter. At night I set the clock to 2:50 and photographed the comet with a 30cmF4 tube, field of view 25.9' x 19.3' The gas tail was visible in the pictures and the 37 min gif animation shows a bit of the life of the tail.
Pictures:
- GIF 27.1. 05:13-05:50
- 3-picture mosaic 27.1. 04:26-04:37
- same as negative
- same gradient map
- tail without comma c2022 E3 ZIF 04:01-04:04
- Cropped color photo experiment with Canon 26.1 22:30
The comet made the biggest impression live with a small tube!

Onpa upea havainto! Hieno animaatio.
Hienoja havaintoja C/2022 E3:sta Timo !
Kiitos Jorma, sieltähän tuli ihan professoritason vastaus!
