A fireball at night, brighter than the venus - 31.5.2023 at 00.35 Turku Observation number 116444

Visibility III / V

Not visible

A giant star clearly started to fall from the sky until it went out in the middle of falling. I thought I was looking at Venus, until suddenly, it fell straight down at a clear speed, disappearing after a while (not behind an obstacle, but turned off). It was visible for so long that I had time to stop and realize that I was watching the fall. It was brighter than Venus, but it didn't catch my attention until it fell and I can't say if it had been there before. Nothing behind, just a huge and bright shooting star.

Marek Kruusman - 31.5.2023 at 11.02 Report this

Sain huonolaatuisen videonkin tästä aamuöisestä noin 00:10, suunta oli länsi, vasten auringon valaisemaa aamutaivasta, todella kirkas, luulin ensin lentokoneeksi pitkät päällä, mutta pallukka pysyi koko ajan paikallaan ja en ehtinyt enempää havainnoida. Venus ja Jupiter pitäisi näky siihen aikaan etelän suunnasta. Yhtä ainuttakaan tähteä tummlla taivaanosuudella ei näkynyt, kuu näkyi selvästi. korkeiden pilvien taustalla tuntui että valonlähde on lähempänä kuin pilvet, arvioin karkeasti etäisyydeksi itsestäni noin 20-30km ja pallukan korkeudeksi maasta noin 1-2km
