Active aurora band - 18.9.2023 at 23.20 - 18.9.2023 at 23.43 Vaasa Observation number 118792

Visibility III / V

Erkki Rantamäki, Ursa (Helsinki)

I noticed rapidly changing shapes in green tones, sometimes gauze-like, sometimes slightly "curtain-like" aurora borealis during the phases of the summer triangle and the Otava constellation. The aurora borealis stretched all the way to the zenith and partly even spread to the south. I didn't notice any colors other than green. What is more likely that the aurora borealis was burning in the sky even after my observation!

Observation supplement 19.09.2023 at 08:51.

The mentioned aurora belt also extended to the constellation of the Bear Guardian. My apartment also offers open views to the northeast and east. I didn't see the northern lights in those mentioned directions! Making the observation was so easy because, for one reason or another, the street lights only partially light up in my place of residence, Palosaari, Vaasa.
