Hail in the summer season - 17.6.2014 at 07.35 Ilmajoki Observation number 26471

Visibility III / V

Marko Myllyniemi, Lakeuden Ursa

After about half past eight, I woke up and listened in semi-darkness that yes (there) suddenly there was water when it was raining ... During the ten minutes of stretching and wading in bed, the rain was already easing, and when I got up I noticed that the ground was white. There seems to be an all-time record in waking up and putting on clothes.

Outside then, it turned out that it wasn't snow at all, but a reasonable amount of hail had fallen in 10-15 minutes, and a good layer of stuff was visible in the corridors and on the mowed lawn.

There were so many small granules that I didn’t bother to measure, but visually the size varied between about 2-4 mm. Indeed, one image shows that a four-millimeter layer of granules accumulated on the rain gauge.

The temperature immediately after the rain +3.8 ° C, as of this writing an hour later (8:50) +6.6 ° C. There are not very Midsummer readings.

Kivoja keskikesän kuvia. Onneksi enään muutama päivä ja sitten alkavat päivät lyhentyä.

Itselle tuli aamulla mieleen vanha sanonta Suomen suvesta: Pari viikkoa huonoja rekikelejä.
