Telescopic comet Jacques - 4.8.2014 at 01.04 Imatra Observation number 28533

Visibility II / V

Rauno Päivinen, Etelä-Karjalan nova

Another observation from the comet, this time I got more light collected. A very weak tail stands out on the right side of the Koma. The sky was clear, the SQM-L gauge showed a comet direction of about 18.1 figures. I also tried to distinguish this with 10x50 binoculars, but without success. Towards the glory, this should stand out, but the light sky seemed to prevent it from appearing.

A 9.5mag star hit the field and the comet is clearly brighter than that.

This is worth trying with binoculars, I think this week it will start to stand out from the sky.

In the first picture, stacked 3 30s exposures

In the second picture, 49 30s exposures, from which a dim tail separates it

The third image is processed with the mathematical Larson-Sekanina filter in the AstroArt5 program, distinguishing the tail of the best from it. The image also shows that from the core is not a source of any strong jet-like eruptions.
