It was time to take the blanks away, the cloudiness in the North Karelia region that continued throughout the autumn and winter has thwarted almost all plans related to photography. The last time I got to shoot the northern lights properly in October, and even then the play was calm. So expectations had been loaded for this evening, and luckily I got along with three guys who had been loaded with the same expectations.
By now, we saw an arc in the car that raised expectations even further. I felt a familiar tingling in the trigger finger, and the enthusiasm began to rise at the same time. We had to change our original plan because of the start of the Northern Lights show. Fortunately, the exchange was successful from the flight painlessly. I had taken off the warm clothes while I was in the car, which then led to an incredible frenzy after parking the car. One tripod crashed while the other tripod of the project was tuned. When I got the second camera in shooting condition, I didn’t even get the other camera attached to the tripod that fell into the snow. It had taken time from a warm car to melt the snow enough that the snow had turned to ice and the ball head was icy .... oh the amount of pain when the northern lights brightened while I tried to turn the camera on the tripod ... in the freezing of the selection. Eventually I got the cameras ready and the situation calmed down. I got after taking those famous blanks away, and we continued our journey a little further to a new place where the lights still brightened on several occasions. Great night!
