I photographed the Pleiades from the Evening Sky balcony at about 7pm in early December. It stood out well even with the naked eye.

      Open cluster is an irregular group of tens or hundreds of stars. It can be visible as separate stars or a bit fuzzy spot with small instrument.

      There is the open cluster M52 on the right edge of the image. The red emission nebula is the Bubble Nebula. Image Jyrki Grönroos.

Technical information

The lens was a 400mm telephoto attached to a Nikon D5100 camera, mounted on a Newton mirror telescope screw attached to its backpack. Stand EQ5.
