I lay in bed, intending to sleep for a couple of hours and then set off to try the northern lights. A message arrived on the phone from Janne Kari; Thunderstorms. Quite a concentration of lightning had developed south of Turku. I went out.
At first, nothing was visible, just a hazy sky. I would go inside until the lightning locator registers a few bangs very close to the center of Turku! I rushed into the car and drove to the edge of the field.
Great set, flashes or flashes so close to twenty. The choice of location in retrospect was a bit bad, a couple of miles further north would have been better. But as far as you know these in advance, this time the thunder was a little unpredictable, suddenly spread all over.
This year's personal flash balance is already higher than last summer ... May the trend stay the same.
