Visibility III / V
There was some excitement and luck in finding this.
Pirjo Koski had got a great picture of a meteor with a northern lights background: https://www.taivaanvahti.fi/observations/show/79180
I made a rough but erroneous directional assessment of this event over a week ago on Sky Safari. Janne Sievinen thought it was wrong and calculated a more precise direction. It wasn’t until the second visual observation became more accurate in timing that I found this in Kangasala’s recordings. The excitement came from the fact that in the ring buffer of the recorder yesterday afternoon, that Sunday Northern Lights evening began to remain overwritten. Fortunately, a new feature in the recorder's latest firmware was the locking of the evening's recordings just before they disappeared.
With this observation, I again noticed how all the small crumbs of direction and time information in visual observations can help in finding an object.
