Visibility II / V
We had to try to detect this too, when we can't get any worse than comets. There were ancient binoculars for the purpose of traversing terrestrial objects. The intention was to set off from Capella, to search for Menkalina, and to continue the lines of the two approximately the same as where the comet should be found. The line from Capella obviously went long, because the next, without lying in ten seconds, Neowise was already in the middle of the field of view. The comet was confusingly bright and even the ancient binoculars showed details of the tail.
I was determined to get an observation from the comet with the naked eye, but this didn’t seem to succeed at all at first. It was only when the sky was so twisted that the comet hit the right place and its exact location could be locked with the help of the trees that the hazy comet with its tails was found in its own eyes as well.
