The last half hour of the lunar eclipse was supposed to be visible during the partial eclipse, but this time too was left behind the clouds. The Altair observation team still spent a moderate amount of time staring at the clouds.

Luckily, the weatherman was wrong with his prediction, promised to be cloudy but was quite clear up to the horizon. With Peakfinder, I saw that the Moon would rise darkened in 1610 behind Puijo Hill, right next to Puijo Tower. This is how it happened, the brighter lower edge of the Moon began to appear, I remember, at 1616 above the forest. The sun had set aside for a few minutes to less than four, so the sky was still reasonably clear, so the darkened Hemisphere of the Moon did not begin to stand out from the background sky until after 1630. A dozen people had gathered in the Neulamäki observ...

Attached is a sequence of Moonrise during partial phase of lunar eclipse. The sequence is taken at 16:36:58 - 17:19:52 local time. Location: Varkaus, in front of Stora Enso factory. The size and location of the moon is not faked. This is true trajectory and size as seen by 60mm lens. These are 15 frames with interval ~3 minutes between shots. On the last 5 frames the moon was, unfortunately, overexposed, but since I didn't want to fake anything, I left it as is. The temperature -12C. Smoke is coming from hot waters of a factory. Instagram: @denigmus I also attach few shots of the moon ta...

The perfect phase of the eclipse was missed because of the clouds as the moon rose. I got a few pictures. Yes, it looked great there on Iso-Syötte.

I climbed with skepticism to Ukko-Koli. The sky was clear, except just in the direction of the moon's rise on the horizon a thick layer of clouds crawled. I put the rig in the shooting position and tested the exposures. The teleconverter seemed to be a blunder, so we can make it to 200 millimeters. The clock of the phase of complete eclipse was already gone, nothing yet visible. The toes were already icy when light was finally visible behind the cloud. With the moon at the bottom, the shadow side barely stood out from the sky, as it just rose higher, the camera better. Soon the clouds cove...

As the moon rose, there was a cloud on the horizon. However, I was in the snow when I noticed that the moon was visible. The clouds had receded. I ran to get a camera and started shooting this rare scene. Should have been noticed earlier, I would have gotten an even deeper picture of the eclipse. A little annoying. I am interested in such phenomena and I was also a member of Ursa for many years.

I tried to follow the lunar eclipse during the work day but it was the best moment in the cloud. In the final stage, I was able to take a few pictures through a thin cloud.

On a business trip to India. The lunar eclipse had to be perpetuated when it happened. The rise of the moon could not be followed from the beginning because the mountains obstructed visibility. However, the moon appeared during the time of complete eclipse and then was able to immortalize the event. The filming took place from the roof of a four-story house, but what a person wouldn’t do because of the lunar eclipse. You should have included Canon's ready-made optics.

Toni Veikkolainen, Keski-Uudenmaan Altair
The impenetrable Cloud Cover had swallowed the partially darkened Moon behind. I started to monitor the situation on Kumpulanmäki, but gradually moved in the direction of Pasila station. No change for the better occurred during the partial phase. In the half-shadow phase, I was already on the train on my way to Järvenpää, but I would have certainly seen the Moon from the train window if it had been visible due to the weather. Even during the day, the blue sky was enough and I even enjoyed the shine.
31.1.2018 at 16.31 - 16.57 - Oulu
Of course, you had to describe a rare lunar eclipse, which then went unnoticed in Oulu. I remembered that from the shore of Kaijonlahti you could see the moon, sieve and zoom, but nothing. The cloud curtain was low on the horizon. Then, however, the moon drew at the bottom of the sky and I took a total of 120 pictures :). From the arm all because the place had to be changed frequently with the moon visible for only a moment from each place, caused by clouds and trees. The lunar eclipse started appearing as early as 16:28 and I stopped filming at 16:54. My camera was in summer time so the camer...

The morning full moon admiration continued appropriately in the evening as watching the lunar eclipse. A partial phase of complete lunar eclipse was visible between the small cloud rafts and for a moment without a cloud curtain.

For once, the weather became clear at the right time. The fog and partly also the ten-degree frost made observation difficult, but in the end the eclipse was well visible insofar as it was noticeable at these latitudes.

From there, it erupted from behind the clouds, a little excited to see if the clouds had time to multiply, but then they disappeared completely. The fingers and toes froze despite the wool socks. There seemed to be ice anglers on the ice, so I dared to describe myself on the ice, although there seemed to be someone driving there.

31.1.2018 at 16.15 - 17.10 - Lappeenranta
We ended up with a few other people from Lappeenranta to photograph and admire the partial lunar eclipse on the Luukkaansalmi bridge, from where there was a great view to the northeast, from where the darkened moon rose. There was a bit of a cloud of cloud on the horizon, so there was no visible moon rise, but when it was already above the horizon, a beautiful reddish sickle was nicely visible. The clear weather was so good that it was possible to shoot the moon in peace for an hour.

The cloudless sky came as if by order! It was good to follow the progress of the lunar eclipse from above the mine hill.

As a rather small sickle, the moon was rising and in about an hour it grew to full moon from it. The blue moment makes image processing awkward. Edit, another image as new

In the morning the moon shone, but the cloud mat that came after half a day was merciless in the evening.

The eclipse began to separate only after a perfect phase, with the Moon quite well above the horizon. In the animation below, the exposure values have been changed from time to time, ‘jumping’ from it. A few singles too, as well as a collage.
